The Gavitt games are set. The announcement of the schedule will be coming out shortly.

Can't comment further.

Why the secrecy? I thought it was known for a while that SHU wouldn't be playing in the Gavitt Games this year? Seton Hall will start the following season.

Would it make sense that for the Gavitt Games, that they would include all the original members of the BE that are now in the new BE. Conference. That would be the logical way.

Because the info is coming out via official sources and not from me.

FWIW, it's possible the info or at least some of it will leak early from the media this morning or afternoon.

Here you go. Just posted.

I'm told Seton Hall will not be in this year's Gavitt Games. Scheduling conflict. Too bad because SHU-Michigan could have been fun.

Scheduling conflict - Caldwell College.

Well it seems BE-B10 Challenge games are scheduled for Nov 17-19, and we are in the Charleston Classic which starts on Nov 19, so that shuts us out of two days of the challenge, so I guess we could not get a game for Nov 17th or SHU was unwilling to play on that day due to tournament beginning on 19th. So seems logical it was truly scheduling issue due to being committed to tournament in Charleston.

Wichita State, Georgia, the teams in the Charleston Classic not good enough for you?

the schedule is fine, but I'd think we'd all appreicate another solid test as opposed to Eastern Washington, right?

Good job pointing out the dates of the charleston Classic. That should put to rest all the conspiracy theorists

Challenges are very hard to schedule, and this could be the reason why nova has to play Nebraska and why other season beginning challenges havnt popped up before. The Gavitt games sounds like a great idea, but schedule a full run of interesting games may not be possible.

The Big East - Big Ten Challenge will get a lot of media attention and winning a game in that series will be a plus for any BE team. The Charleston Classic will get very little media attention unless SH were to beat a high profile, highly ranked team in that Classic.

The challenge will get media attention for the "big name" or better ranked schools, but do you think an SHU vs Purdue, Northwestern or Minnesota is going to raise anyone's interest or get any interest from the media? We were not playing Wisconsin, Michigan St, Indiana or Michigan.

I believe that any win by SH over any BIG school will attract media attention far more so then playing NJIT, FDU, Rider, etc in the early part of the season , especially when you're trying to upgrade your OOC schedule. Don't write off games with Minnesota or Northwestern as they are programs that are getting better and both head coaches have a pedigree , albeit for different reasons, that attract attention.

Of course will get more attention than beating the bottom feeders you listed, but how much more attention? Coverage has been terrible the last few years. You think the Star Ledger or Record (or any other local paper) is sending a reporter if those BE-B10 games if we are on the road, no way. The paper will have the quick AP recap. Do you think SportsCenter is showing the highlights of the big game between SHU and Northwestern, not a chance.

Also, you initially said the media attention for the BE-B10 games would be greater than the Charleston Classic, SHU will get little coverage (and probably all we deserve at this point) in either unless we maybe win the tourney, or we defeat a top tier team.

Don't forget the relationship between ESPN and the BIG and ESPN promotes the BIG every chance it can get.

This goes against your initial comment that the BE-B10 challenge would get more attention than the Charleston Classic. If you are talking coverage on ESPN, then I disagree with you. Well who do you think owns the Charleston Classic? ESPN does. So all the games are available through ESPN and their networks.

The BE-B10 challange, games are either going to be broadcast on Fox1, ESPN or B10 Network. Most likely an SHU @ NW game is not making it on ESPN, will be on B10 network.

No matter who we play, where we play or when we play, if we want or expect "media attention" we have to start winning and winning consistently. A 20 second highlight clip on ESPN/Sportscenter because we played a B10 team is not what I consider attention.

What, South Florida isn't good enough for you, LOL.
