1. McDermott -- Anyone done a better job coaching his team than the senior McBuckets?

2. Mack -- Well this guy is close.

3. Cooley -- So is he, but having two of the very best players in the conference helps

4. Wright -- Still in play despite the upset

5. Willard -- Everyone is waiting for the meltdown. They might have a long wait

6. Holtmann -- Great start. Not so great last 7 games (2-5)

7. Thompson -- Team playing better. But not as well as the talent dictates

8. Leitao -- Not much was expected and that's what you're getting

9. Wojo -- Terrible job considering the preseason accolades as the sleeper team in the league

INC -- How can anyone judge Mullin with this roster?

Idk how Wright goes from 1 to 4 with one loss.

1. Wright
2. Cooley
3. Mack
4. McDermott

Still think Cooley is at the top. Hell of a win at Nova yesterday and Bentil by far and away is the most improved player in the league. Nobody thought he was going to be this good in the preseason. Still think Cooley is underrated nationally.

1. Mack
2. Wright
3. McDermott
4. Cooley

Nobody else close to those four guys right now.

3 horse race between Wright, Mack and Cooley

If Creighton makes the dance, come talk to me. But I don't want to hear that a guy whose team was picked to finish 8th ended up finishing 6th or 7th so he is coach of the year. That's nonsense.

I actually put Willard and Holtman as the battle for #4 and 5 right now, both ahead of McDermott. And then a huge drop off after McDermott.

You do understand this thread is to date and not a projection. Or are you going to the same school that mjs428 attends?

Well if it is to date and not a projection, then I would give it to one of the three guys whose teams are in the top ten, not to one of the guys whose team is on the wrong side of the bubble.

Couldn't agree more. Certainly don't want what's his name anywhere near a COY list until we get a winning record and face down the February swoon.

Meaning that you're not looking at the whole picture. Just rankings.

Pick any of the top four on my list above and you make a quality choice. Neglect one at this time and IMO we have a strong difference of opinion.

Dan, no reason to knock me. It's so hard to do it to date with the balance of the schedule. Creighton still has to play @nova, X twice, @ Prov, @ Butler, @gtown (tonight) & us at home. Sorry we don't think they are great.

McDermott is doing as expected. His team was picked to finish 8th. He looks like he has a team in the 6-8 range.

Let's not start awarding coaches for NIT efforts. That just makes this a charity award. Especially when three of the teams are top ten right now.

And if you are putting a NIT coach in the same stratosphere as three coaches of top ten teams, you are clearly not looking at the big picture. You are clearly neglecting to look at player development, player retention, player chemistry, and big picture success.

Would the two (2) posters immediately above please put a sock in it. (I'm on a roll today, can't help myself)

HALL85 spoke too soon. Unbelievable choke job by Creighton. Had Georgetown dead to rights.

The top four picks are so close going into last nights play that one loss changes everything. And in the case of Creighton it was one point.

Georgetown's talent level is vastly superior to that of Creighton's and yet playing on their home court they needed a miracle finish to win the game.

That's show what a great job McDermott is doing despite the comments from some above.

That said his loss as well as Cooley's now drops them behind Mack and Wright. The rankings in my opinion are so close at this point that one game can vastly change the order.
