Bill Dalton

His signon was BillD but he seldom posted. That said Bill was an avid reader of this site and a great SHU BB fan. Bill passed away the other day and I just found out late last night.

Many on this board knew him personally although he moved out of the country about 6-8 years ago so I'm sure they haven't seen him in a long time.

When he and I were younger we became good friends after meeting at the Big East Tournament where we sat next to each other. In fact it was Bill who introduced me to SnakeTom and the Booster Club.

Bill who it turned out was very ill came back home to the US about a week ago and left me a voice mail. However when I returned the call I never got a call back. Now I know why.

Rest well Bill. You were a gentle person and a great friend who deserved better.

This is very sad. I knew Bill well through the Booster Club and he was the one who taught me about computers and these online message boards way back when. Also as Dan said he was the one that first introduced us. I have not seen Bill the past few years since he moved to Thailand. He was a good guy & an avid Pirate fan, Bill will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace Bill.

One strong memory of Bill. We were on a Booster Club trip to an away game at Villanova. A Nova fan right behind us was incredibly obnoxious (hard to believe, huh) constantly berating us and our team. Bill was about 6-4 or so and had a very intimidating look about him despite having a very low key and soft spoken personality. Bill who didn't talk much finally had enough. He then turned around & with that very soft low voice told the Nova fan "one more word,
I'll pick you up & toss you over the balcony." The Nova fan was silent for
the rest of the game.

I heard that story and quite frankly when I did I was shocked. I knew Bill for maybe 20 years or so and never once remember him being mad. He never said anything bad about anyone. And that's a rare quality indeed.
