to no surprise by me you will not see a bill simmons article, appearance on any espn platform going forward so he was either bought out with a no compete clause or on paid vacation til september

Maybe it's just me but I've never understood what this man brought to ESPN. To me, he was just a fan with a platform. A glorified blogger, if you will. Really not qualified to be an analyst for anything. That said, I only watch ESPN for live sports these days. I refuse to watch any of the garbage they televise throughout the day.

The last remaining question in the split between the Sports Guy and ESPN has now been answered.

Yes, we've seen the last of Bill Simmons on the worldwide leader and all related platforms.

Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch reported Friday afternoon that Simmons and ESPN have worked out a deal that officially ends Simmons' run with the network.

No goodbye B.S. Report podcast. No goodbye column on Grantland. No final guest appearance on "Pardon the Interruption."

Sports Illustrated reported that Simmons sent out an email to the Grandland team this week to let them know he would no longer be working on the sports and pop culture website he founded in 2011.

Both ESPN and Simmons declined SI's requests for comment on Friday.

The New York Times first reported the news of ESPN servering ties with Simmons last week.

“We’ve been talking to Bill and his agent and it was clear we weren’t going to get to the terms so we were better off focusing on transition,” Skipper told the Times.

On Tuesday, Skipper explained the decision to not renew Simmons' contract was his call and he said "it was business."
