I watched this BookTV one hour show on CSPAN2 yesterday.
IMHO it sums up the Conservative position as I see it.
IMHO it is worth the hour to watch/listen to.
The Conservative Heart link
Brooks is CEO of AEI (American Enterprise Institute).
He has a very good world view:
Four Secrets to a Happy Life:
1. Faith
2. Family
3. Community
4. Work
"Help is important, but Hope is essential".
The poor must be viewed as assets to develop, not liabilities to manage.
Don't campaign on "Unity & Optimism" and then try to govern on "Division & Pessimism".
The latter does not take responsibility, shifts blame and doesn't dig in.
The former can only work through first building "relationships" based on "moral consensus" and only then with conservative v. liberal competition on "Policies".
Worth a listen.
