I've been bashed for criticizing Willard several years back. You can tell he wasn't a good coach then. He will not get it done even with a top class next year. We've been getting by simply on talent alone. I've never seen a team unable to hold onto double digit leads like SHU. Our offense sets suck and our defense is awful. Our guys look lost and leave wide open 3's.

Bring in Danny Hurly and I'm a Pirate Blue donor that day!!

Maybe you should just contribute to Pirate Blue, instead of dangling the prospect of doing so out like a carrot. Donating to PB helps all of the student athletes and their respective athletic programs. Surely they have some value to you, don't they?

Can I earmark my PB donations as "to every program except Men's Basketball"?

Legit question here.

Yes you can earmark the donation but I don't trust shu or pirate blue...everything gets dumped into basketball.

We're better off holding back all donations and hurt the whole to send a message about this untenable situation.

My issue with your post is that Danny Hurley DOES not want to coach for Seton Hall and Willard does. You can bash him all you want but Willard does put in the effort here. I doubt you would get that from someone else.

Is that the same Willard who said he wanted to go back to Iona a week after he took our job?

Yes. Call Bryan Felt and ask him about naming opportunities for lockers and such for other sports. That's what I'm doing.

Save your $ and go to some NCAA tourney games to see what real basketball is.

Georgetown on a huge run and KW has the blank stare on his face. It's embarrassing.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read here in a long time. Yes, let's hurt EVERY student athlete and EVERY sport because we don't like the basketball coach.

Too bad the women's team, baseball, etc can't stop playing games in protest until the school gets rid of "supporters" like you. But no, they continue to represent the University proudly, even when you don't.

You guys are truly baffling individuals.

Edit: this is for pirated, and I want to make that clear.

30 games under .500 in the Big East now. Might as well give Willard a lifetime contract. The administration is completely lost and clearly doesn't give a you know what about the program. Anybody that says differently is blowing smoke up you know where.

Yeah, sure you will. They could bring in Coach K and you still wouldn't donate. If you really cared about SHU Basketball you would have been donating by now. I love how a number of you talk tough on a message board hiding behind a screen name.

Get a life already. Willard is going nowhere and Hurley will never be the coach. Just get used to it and shut up already. I am so sick of reading this board and seeing every post turn into a Fire Willard thread.

GSD118, so you enjoy watching bad, losing basketball more than reading this board? Cool. Don't read the board then.

I'm glad that we have passionate fans who are sick of losing and want to see this program succeed. I wish the administration was on the same page.

GSD's signature says it all... We lose, our fans say "it's just a game, get a life".

LOL.

BlueIce
The standard by which you judge college coaches is not effort it's wins and losses.

He enjoyed watching Bobby Gonzalez and his teams and also said Gonzalez was going nowhere. He wants and even thinks PJ might come back. The signature of his is the biggest joke on the board.

Anybody think Willard is going to go 10-8 in BE play next year and win 2 out of 3 against the quality OOC opponents? The WSU and Georgia games are at home. And the Charlestown Classic is going to be much tougher than the Paradise Joke tourney this year. Those must be the reason why Willard is going nowhere.

Some of the comments made by donors do not encourage or welcome new donors or small dollar donors. Will not be shocked when we do not get many going forward. Extra you big boys need to contribute. Reach deeper. ;)

Look ticket sales this year were the best in years. Student turn out was very good and games where 6,500 tickets were sold/distributed with less than 5,000 in the building in the past were on average 8,500 with few no shows this year.

That is going hit the $$ bottom line way more than these guys who stop their $50 check. If we lose all the momentum from the build up this year and go 6-12 in BE play with this coach next year watch out.

WSU and Georgia are decent home games next year. But, does anybody think this coach is going 10-8 in BE play next year?

that's the incredible thing about the school bringing him back. TOMD82. He probababy will have a slightly better record next year because this year has been a mess. 1 win in FEB. in the last seconds and we just keep losing. What the hell is going on. This is Seton Hall . We have no football and basketball is our number 1 sport and we have dropped like a rock over the last 9 years. Even before that 3 NCAAS in 21 years. Again this should not even be an issue with Willard coming back. Now a lot of us are afraid that if he does have a better record yet still does not make the NCAAS he will be back again . This is a nightmare. As bad as Willard is the school is the BIG PROBLEM HERE. How could they possibly care f they bring him back for year 6. Basketball is so important to the University in so many ways. there all talk. Always have been and always will be. I believe someone mentioned on here that Willard at least wants to come back. My God no one else wants him as a head coach and the salary he is getting and not producing is just incredible. Of course he wants to come back. All I can say is when this season is over don't believe the BS on how disappointed they are and how next year will be better etc. What else do you expect them to say. Whether its Lyons WILLARD DR. ESTEBAN THE BOR. For years we are going in circles. No tourney then the inevitable hope in the off season then the season starts and finally nothing . Then it starts all over again. As Raftery said a few weeks ago doing our game we were so lucky thanks to Rickie Regan to get in a Conference like this. Rutgers declined as did Holy Cross. So Dave Gavitt got Boston College and that was supposed to be it. But Richie realized that if we didn't get in this Conference we would be small time forever. He had to borrow twenty five thousand to get us in and what helped was his friendship with Gavitt. And still a few years later Gavitt had to SCOLD the school for not doing enough with the facilities etc. We could have been in the MAC all these years and we were given a gift from heaven . THE BIG EAST. And it is so clear we need a change and it will probably never happen this year. Write to the school. Maybe fing some Seton Hall guys who are politicians and write to them. Anything. Ray Lesniak a State Senator. stepped in as a big Rutgers fan and in a matter of a week it looks like all of a sudden RU may be a lot closer to improving their situation with their basketball facilities. There coach is there maybe 2 years. I bet they hes gone next year. But Willard 5 years stays. Finally it seems the buyout is large and whoever did that contract should also be held accountable. But there are numerous ways to buy a coach out. Bottom line I just don't think the school cares that much. No matter what they say. Talk is cheap.

piratehall.

Seton Hall Athletics: It's nice when we win, who cares when we lose.

Since SHU seems to hire its AD and basketball coaches from Iona, let's just change the School name to Seton Hall Iona Tech; or "S.H.I.T." for short.

SPK145 LOL. your right I have been saying the same thing and hearing this same thing since my PREP days by people who know believe me. LOKI that's a great comment. your right also. Another Iona coach? No way. Iknow we can be good again. Just have to get the right guy and their are more to chose from than a lot of people may think. I don't like to mention other names of coaches only guys who have done it for us the past. Honestly guys I have never heard from so many people who are scared to death that Willard will be back. No lie. Even if he somehow got us to the tourney next year he still isn't the guy to lead us. seen to much in 5 years. DR, ESTEBAN is doing a great job on the academic side no question. I think he knows how important basketball is but maybe not. All I know a lot of people are getting frustrated beyond belief. Year 5 and we win 1 game in a month. And for a lot of the fans out their believe me a lot of us write and go on and on but its because we realize the importance of a great program and WE LOVE SETON HALL.

Can we start a "PLEASE RESIGN" thread?

some of these posts are hard to understand.

I think we should fire Willard too; consequences be damned...I am literally stating that these posts are truly difficult to understand.

A weenie? Lol. First time I've heard him called that. Actually first time I've seen or heard that word used since like 8th grade.

theres no other way to describe him than using such a juvenile word lol

Sorry I'm wrong. I'll donate, have the administration hire another bad coach, continue to watch mediocre coached basketball and be happy.

He's definitely a weenie. That timeout today was one of the most uninspiring dialogues ever. I wonder why they persistently air Willards timeouts.
