But Trump deserves all praise for OWS

Dumb thread title. So 330 million doses weren't made. No praise. Powell didn't catch Dehere. No praises for him either.

The issue is they said there was a reserve stockpile which would be released, but there was no reserve stockpile.
What does that have to do with OWS. We have a vaccine within 10 months. OWS deserves credit for that. Are there other issues? Sure. But it's been a gigantic help.

General Perna is overseeing distribution of the vaccine as a part of Operation Warp Speed.

Absolutely. Credit when it is deserved and blame when it is deserved as well.
I'm not sure who is to blame here, but states being promised a distribution which does not exist might be a huge problem if it gets to the point where they can't give the 2nd dose in time to some of the recipients.

Reminds me of the Louis CK clip 10 years ago where he talks about people getting to the airport and learning planes have wifi. Then they get on the plane and find out wifi isn't working and flip out. What the hell is wrong with people, they're upset that things they didn't know were possible aren't available.

Joe Biden hopefully will make good policies that will help police reform. When those policies have glitches will you be blaming those policies despite all the good they do and question the praise Joe got for them? Or will you recognize the policies did a lot of good?

So you tell a governor that there is a reserve of vaccines which will be distributed to them. The governor plans around what you told them, and when the governor follows up to ask where the vaccines are, you tell them they were never really there.

and you think the governor shouldn't complain about that because of a joke that people get mad that the wifi they just learned about doesn't work?

It depends on what that looks like. I will have no problem praising the good and criticizing the bad from Biden.

OWS made something possible that was considered impossible to do January 2020. OWS and those who put it in play deserve praise by any measure. Acting like praise isn't deserved is foolish. Without OWS it's taking 24-36 months to come up with a vaccine.

Where did I say the governors should have no complaints? I said not giving praise to OWS and the people behind it is dumb. The complaints we have are minor compared to the complaints we would have without OWS.

I agree OWS did a lot of good. No one here said there shouldn't be any praise, but that last part isn't true.

These pissing matches are so ridiculous.

But take a step back, if governors didn’t hold “shot 2” for people because they put “shot 1” in people’s arms with the promise that a reserve was being released, and that reserve didn’t exist compromising shot 2 timing, that’s bad. Period.

Original title stupid. WiFi joke stupid. Talking about speed of vaccine development when the thread is specifically about a federal vaccine reserve stupid.

Some are so politicized that if you step back and use a logical argument, your statements fall apart like ultra thin panties.

I don’t disagree but also imagine the reaction here if Murphy said things were delayed because he doesn’t Trust Trump.

I have no idea of what happened here, but making up that we have a vaccine stockpile beyond being odd, does seem like a bit of a problem.

I believe the governors should have formulated their plan based on information given. No, no one should have held back if the true expectation was that there were further doses being released. Simple as that.

Original topic was just dumb and sole purpose was to elicit the expected response, which some didn’t disappoint.

Difference is, there was no physical violence, deaths on the site, or endangering of others
Physical violence, deaths on the site, or endangering of others. Cue up the clip @shu09 posted a week ago of many politicians inciting riots where there was violence, death, and endangering of others. Should all those people be removed from office?

Also you may be inciting people to hate. Is that what you’re all about?

Yes, of course. And you took the bait and made a dumb argument about speed of vaccine creation. But by all means, ignore the spirit of the problem in question - that governors may have created a plan around the expected release of a non-existent reserve.

So like every other thread, any hope of a discussion about a topic will just fracture and run to opposite sides of political discourse.

But I guess I don’t come here for true discussion, more about watching the antics.

Silly me. I thought OWS was about speeding up the manufacturing and distribution of the vaccine. I thought speeds the most significant component of OWS. Yes we need more. But how many doses in less than 10 months? It’s probably the first time Trump isn’t exaggerating or flat out lying when he says it’s something our country has never seen before.

As for governors plans. Which business makes a plan and has the luxury of being able of sticking to it. Things happen and we all have to adjust on the fly. Are we sure there was never a reserve or is that just a thought that’s being thrown out for all to take in. Or was the reserve used elsewhere.

The thread was clearly meant to incite and another great example of a politician politicizing, in this case a tweet, that is misleading. The pandemic is ever changing and the forecasts and models move each week. And if the stockpile is depleted that doesn’t mean that vaccines are not being produced and distributed as we speak. Hard to get any background on the stockpile from a tweet, but having been involved in one of the therapies, stockpiles go up and down dramatically because of the way the disease is manifesting. As you said if the government misrepresented something here that is wrong, but the rush to judgement and ignorance wins again.

I believe 25 million doses have now been distributed with 9 million administered. I would ask is this a stockpile issue or a deployment issue at the state level. (BRW, not that I care about Trump and his promises, but HHS forecasted 20 million doses by year end and we’re at 25 million by January 15th). Was that a big miss as has been reported constantly by the MSM? Regardless, We’ve vaccinated a significantly higher percentage of the population thus far than most industrialized countries.

There is no need to have to constantly defend OWS and have these pissing contests. OWS has directed resources, mobilized and coordinated government and private industries to get therapies and vaccines to the population much faster. Who cares who gets credit; it’s working.

Your second paragraph is telling. Are some states/regions running out and others failing at distributing what they have? And with the tweet, who knows what to even believe anymore?

I think there’s a combination of issues. First of all, there is a lag in vaccinations. Shipments are delivered to hospitals but scheduling, administering is not immediate. If a system receives 10,000 doses you can’t do that in one day. In addition, I think many hospitals are surprised that fewer employees are being vaccinated than they anticipated. So now they have to accelerate Plan B to get it out to the community. This takes time when you can’t predict demand. And there is some variation state to state but you have to drill down. I gave an example of NYCHHC week. Horribly run public hospital system that was not prepared logistically.

As for the stockpile complaint, same church different pew. Not sure of the same applies but one of the COVID therapies that OWS was coordinating required building a stockpile of 500k doses, Demand increased for it past the forecast outstripping weekly shipments requiring OWS to draw down stockpile while manufacturing ramped up. Not one hospital was ever shorted of the therapy.. Some people should read on the definition of a a “stockpile” is.

Interesting how the left uses stats. When it comes to deaths we look at total deaths, not deaths per 100. Places like Italy and Mexico lead the way there. Plenty of other countries ahead of us there. So when it comes to deaths let’s look at total, not total per 100. When it comes to vaccines the left looks at total per 100. I guess it’s not good to know we’re the most vaccinated in the world, but let’s let everyone know we lead the world in deaths.

Not accurate. We are ahead of Mexico. Will likely pass Italy as well.

Plenty of other countries ahead of us there.

like maybe 10? That’s not something to celebrate especially since we are moving up on that list.

Things have updated since I last looked. You are correct we past Mexico but we’re still not top 10 which doesn’t have the same dramatic effect of leading the world in deaths.

respectfully, “things have updated” is a nice way of saying that things have been getting worse in the US.

Also, we are #11. That is a bad stat.

There were about 15-20 countries that were ahead of us when I last looked. So it has gotten much worse. That doesn’t negate the fact there is a MSM focus on total number of deaths not deaths per 100 which was my entire point.

No one certainly disputes that we have a lot of deaths no matter how you cut it. The question will continue to be "why" and what could we have done or do to prevent it from happening again. IMO, four things would have made a significant difference: 1) Shutting down our borders would have been a very effective way to slow the virus and reduce deaths. I think there is enough proof out there from countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada that did this. We certainly have more challenges as a major industrialized nation that has tons of ways to enter (legally and illegally), but we should have done much more initially (Look in the mirror politicians). 2) We should have focused on protecting the most vulnerable. States with the highest deaths/100K are mostly ones that had a high percentage of nursing home deaths. Those areas should have gotten PPE first and the pandemic showed the weaknesses in our LTC system and how we deal with aging. (Maybe if we had more information earlier from China and WHO??) And 3), We need to be honest and recognize that we are an extremely unhealthy population. Want to prevent more death, take actions to prioritize living a healthy lifestyle. 4) So much has been learned about treating this disease once it hit our shores. We were consumed with putting people on ventilators which was probably one of the worst medical decisions that was made. Not blaming our experts, but once again if we had more information earlier from China and WHO, it would have made a huge difference in number of deaths.

god i need this vaccine to work and get back to normal life LOL.
Are you still out of work? If so I’m sorry and have a lot of empathy. If not great. The mental and physical toll of this virus is insane and reported often. The financial impact is nothing but catastrophic particularly for small businesses but it’s only reported publicly by MSM to highlight how trump caused the economic issues we r dealing with. The left got their crisis/crises and got rid of the crazy guy who is crazy btw. I am rooting for pols to figure out a way to let people move on with their lives (on a case by case basis with the individual deciding what is best). But they are off to a horrible start: checks to people and state governments is a bandaid on a gun shot wound. How about another form of PPP that has tailored purposes, like construction loans for restaurants that want to stay open at full capacity and select hospitals that can’t handle a pandemic. WTF is 2 grand gonna do when the price tag is what it is?

Your whole game is attempting to make the snarkiest of all comments. I've been living rent free in your head ever since I told you go perform the impossible act of procreation upon yourself. You had no snarky comeback better than that. Talk about being the same. SInce then you've moved on to basically only posting on 2 things. Anything I say and the drop in the buckets.

By the way, Kathy Griffin blew me off? When it comes to snarky comments, you're having the yips. Don't worry you'll break out of it.

I sincerely hope your day is as pleasant as you are.
