when 2016 four star Joey Bunk verbaled to Butler over Indiana and Purdue. Very good get for Butler and the Big East.

It is actually "Brunk." Ranked Top 100 by ESPN but lower by some others. Still a nice pickup as Butler will have him and 6-10 Nate Fowler to build around up front. Bulldogs keep rolling.

It's been painfully obvious the last couple of years that the BE has suffered in the NCAA's because they have just been too small. Butler taking action to get bigger...you have to tip your hat to that program.

Joey Brunk, a 6-foot-10 center from Indianapolis, committed to Butler on Sunday afternoon.

“After much consideration, I’m grateful to say I’ve committed to Butler University. Overjoyed to be a part of the bulldog family,” Brunk tweeted.

He had taken an official visit to Butler earlier this month and had also taken an official to Oklahoma. Brunk is ranked as the No. 138 recruit in the Class of 2016, but is rated much higher according to ESPN.

“Joey Brunk is a solid addition for Butler, especially in a class in which there are very few capable big men in the Midwest,” College Basketball Talk‘s Scott Phillips said. “Brunk has good hands and a high IQ and skill level, which makes him a nice fit for the way the Bulldogs play.”

Brunk becomes the third player Butler has landed this offseason. Jordan Gathers will use his final season of eligibility this upcoming season as a graduate transfer. Former George Washington guard Kethan Savage also transferred in, but will have to wait until the 2016-17 season. Brunk is Chris Holtmann’s first commit from the Class of 2016.

Scout has him as a 4 star player ranked 81 while 24/7 has him as a 4 star ranked 89 .

Strengths:
Brunk is a true center. He has a wide body and is not afraid to use it to help him get get low post scoring and rebounding position. He has good hands, touch and footwork and finishes around the rim through contact on a consistent basis. He does a great jump posting and ducking in on his defender to make himself a huge and available post feed target. He has a very good basketball IQ that allows him to read and properly react in game situations. Brunk is an excellent area rebounder as well.

Weaknesses:
Brunk will need to continue to add strength and work to improve his athletism because right now he is a rim level or below finisher.

Bottom Line:
Brunk is a high major minus to high major true center terrific that can score and rebound. He is physical and tough with excellent upside.
