Carino-NBA Draft: Expert's take on Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper, Kadary Richmond, Cliff Omoruyi

I still don't think the reason Kadary didn't work there is because he was being coached by some diminished version of Jimmy B.
Shrug.

2018-19: 20-14,
2019-20: 18-14,
2020-21: 18-10,
2021-22: 16-17, and
2022-23: 17-15

And that's with their notorious early season cupcake games.

Was that more Boeheim going downhill, more Cuse being a different and not as good program post Big East, or some combination? I hear you on the "shrug".

I'm just always hesitant to jump ship on a coach who has showed for decades he is a Hall of Famer, like Boeheim. Some folks here were doing that about Pitino when he took the SJU job, which is pretty wild and has since been debunked. I get that came from a place of dislike and lack of objectivity, but to me once a coach establishes over a long haul that's great, I give him (or her) the benefit of the doubt. Just like I don't agree with prematurely anointing younger coaches based on one year, which we all know about here.

Not that it doesn't happen. Thad Matta is a good example. While he isn't at Boeheim's level, there was a point in his career where I would have classified him as a top-tier coach given the track record from Butler-Xavier-Ohio State. His health issues have clearly impacted his ability -- still can't believe that guy is in his late 50s, because he looks like the oldest coach in the Big East by a lot.

I feel like his decision-making was not terrific. And I didn't like the way he treated Richmond. No disagreement, though that he had a great career.

Ironically, Richmond would have been ideal playing up top or on a wing in that 2-3 zone.

A 6-6 guard with a long wingspan would have been extremely disruptive.
