Rest? Hmm. They just had 8 days iff before Georgetown.

“I pulled everybody (because) nobody was playing well," he said. "Rest what? These guys had rest the whole week, some guys didn’t practice, they were taking days off because…whatever. Nobody was playing good. I was just trying to get some guys to get out there and play with some energy and some life.”

I would be nice for the students to turn out Wednesday night. 7PM game. Give the team a boost in a game we need against a team that’s kicked out ass lately the past 2 seasons.

And it’s up to the team to respond. People not wanting to practice after a long bye week with so much on the line is a bad sign.

The team dropped from KP #61 to #69 after this. I’d expect a similar NET drop tomorrow and likely “First Out” status.

It may be one game, but I don’t care: they don’t deserve to be in right now. They need to really make amends to show this was an aberration.

They’re trending in the wrong direction and they would get smoked in the tournament by a tournament-wining mid major right now.

I’d rather have them home getting their needed rest.

Nice that the trip to St. John's after Xavier is essentially a home game in terms of travel. Only long trip is to Creighton. UConn away and that's it, rest home.

and lets look at "people". its basically an entire senior led team. today from my seats the one guy that looks to be making the most of his minutes was coleman. davis was trying hard in the first half and i think it was just too much d for him.

Is he the leader of the program or not? Outside of those with illness/injury, there's no excuse not to be practicing. You'd think the leader of the program wouldn't allow guys not to practice, but maybe I'm wrong when it comes to Sha. Talks tough in public, doesn't back it up.

i dont think anyone knows enough to say thats whats going down. but is this the age of NIL/instant transfer where players are starting to run the business?

This is what I don’t get and wonder what goes on these days. Holloway seems constantly perplexed by this and calls the players out for it, yet it continues. And these are all players he brought in or have now been with him a couple years.

Perhaps coaches have lost some authority over these things? Do the players go to the training staff and say they can’t go?

The team had a week off last week. After St. John’s on Sunday, they don’t play again until Saturday, almost another week.

Davis needs to call a team only meeting.

Who knows if that's good or bad? Looked like a lot of rust versus Georgetown last week, but looked worse on Saturday.

It seems that Richmond is a lot less assertive since he's been back, and even when he's on the court, seems to be deferring to Dawes, who is handling the ball too often. The problems with that are many: Dawes tends to get a little reckless with the ball on occasion, and -- as our best 3-point threat -- isn't being set up for spot-up threes. This has been a very strange and perplexing season with Richmond, who looked like he had finally turned a corner.

Dont count on it.

Clog the middle and run Al off the 3 point line. That defense seems to be working.

We’ve been run out of Philly many times in the past 40 years even when we had teams way better than this. How will they respond?

It sure would be nice to have some juice off the bench. Nova has Hart, Maryland‘s second best player last year, Ware, 6’11 from Kentucky, Longino and Hausen. We have Coleman and EHE, both developing nicely but can’t match the scoring and experience other BE teams are bring off the bench.

And we settled for it. Really did nothing to combat it.

And where were we on defense? Sha was beside himself many times when we gave Nova shooters so much space.

In the first half and second half when Nova was making a big run, it took forever for Sha to call a timeout. I can't understand why he doesn't call those earlier? Get these guys heads back in the game and defend the 3 pt line. I love Sha but this is an area that makes me crazy as a fan. I'm sure he's forgotten more basketball than I will ever know but these guys have a tendency to overhelp and on offense settle for the 3 pt shot and not be patient on offense. When we are more patient we take better shots and its up to Sha to get em back on track before the opponent goes on a 10-0 run.

We have talent and toughness. Let's hope Sha gets in their heads and we get back to playing well and also make a few adjustments especially when we are playing a team for the second time.

I’m only guessing here, but I get the feeling that Sha hates to repeat himself and during timeouts he would be doing just that. The team doesn’t run what he wants or do the fundamentals that they practice.

And I think when the team isn’t doing what it’s supposed to be doing Sha gets frustrated and has trouble actually coaching them. He gets emotional and pissed and doesn’t know how to shift into supportive coach mode.

I think he will get better with time as he learns to have patience.

Right now I think he doesn’t understand how kids today don’t bust their butt as much as he did when he played. Another year or two and I believe he’ll start shifting into what a coach should do in the moment his team loses focus and everything goes out the window.

If that is the case then he should have another coach address the team. We jumped out to a fast start against Gtown & Cooley called a quick TO. The rest of the game was a dogfight. Timeouts aren't nearly as critical in the first half as they are in the 2nd.

We had no answers on Sunday. Double team KR on the PNR, chew up time, settle for the three. Clog the lane, prevent the interior pass or penetration, settle for the three. I'm surprised that only 60% of our shots were threes -- it felt closer to 80%.

If we were able to make a few, Villanova has to start respecting it and maybe that loosens things up. I thought we did a nice job working the ball inside against the zone and 'Nova went away from it.

Meanwhile, defensively we reverted to allowing perimeter shooters as much room as they desired to get off a shot.

There was a sequence in the 1st half where SHU had just cut the lead to 2. Armstong then made a jumper and EHE got called for a foul away from the ball. Nova retained possession and Dixon then made a 3 and the lead was back up to 7. That's when I realized it was not our day.

Also, I don't recall this happening often that after a made basketball there is a foul away from the ball and the team that made the basket retains possession. I saw this at the end of a different game this year where there was a 5-point play to end a game.

That was a big foul by EHE that really hurt us as we were cutting their lead. Significant momentum swing and a silly foul by EHE. Again it seemed our heads were not in it at all.
