UConn looks good.Excellent outside shooting and great depth.

I thought Samson Johnson ex St Pats was going to transfer to SHU?

Kid's a pogo stick! Major hops!

Hurley's talks about "re-recruiting him" starting at the midway point of last season. He was penciled in as the starting 4 for us last year, but an injury opened a spot for Alex Karaban who surprised people with his play and won the starting spot. This year they've moved Samson to Clingans back up at the 5 and he's looked very good.

Hurley was smart and did a good job.The kid has major hops but right now is primarily a dunk and block energy guy. Will probably get 15 minutes per game as Clingans backup. At SHU he could have been the man at center this year.

He looked really good tonight. And he’s their backup lol. Clingan also just looks damn good even when he doesn’t put up huge numbers. He made a beautiful backdoor pass to a cutter for a hoop that isn’t something you see bigs do that smoothly.

Samson top 60, #9 center and #1 in NJ. Finally getting min his junior year.

You wonder why a BE team like us with the of and c position wode open we struggle to get a major big.

$$$$$$$$$$$

We really need to step up and help McBride and Liebler.

Going to the SHU/RU dinner will help

Samson has always been a talented player. But when you are playing behind Adama Sanogo and Donovan Clingan, there's only so many minutes available. Like I said, but for an injury, he would've been our starting 4 last year, which I think will be his position at the next level. Karaban stepped in and played better than anyone anticipated and that pushed Johnson back in the rotation. Karaban Benefited from joining the team midyear the year before and so was ready to play when his number got called.

Samson Was starting to think about transferring when Hurley and the staff reached out to him and asked him to stay, telling him the minutes were coming. Johnson, to his credit, stayed with the team and now is reaping the benefits. He did look terrific last night and was absolutely needed with Donovan sick and coming back from injury.

Edit:
Coincidentally, Fanta wrote about the Samson story in an article today:

Hurley opened up about Johnson, saying he always felt that the big man from the country of Togo had it in him, and that's why he didn't let him slip through the transfer portal. While UConn was winning games in the NCAA Tournament, Hurley and his staff were trying to make sure they kept Johnson from departing for another program.

"When schools were trying to recruit Samson [Johnson] and get him to go into the transfer portal, which unfortunately goes on in our business while you're trying to play out your season, we actively recruited him back in because we knew a position change to center would unlock his incredible abilities," Hurley told FOX Sports

He gave the Front Office guys a nice break as well price wise with a full course dinner, desert and an open beer/wine bar.

That plus the festivities. All to help our's and Rutgers' NLIs.
