South Orange, N.J. – The Pirates picked up three crucial points in BIG EAST play on a rainy Saturday night at Owen T. Carroll Field, taking down UConn by a score of 4-2.

How it Happened
For the second straight match, the Seton Hall offense came out firing. In the 13th minute, Hugo Gerbore (Moelan Sur Mer, France) had a deflection off a UConn defender bounce right by his feet in the middle of the penalty area. Gerbore settled with his first touch, then fired with his left foot past the keeper for the first goal of the night.

Just a few minutes later in the 18th minute, Andrea Borg (Sliema, Malta) played a cross along the ground towards the near post. Rikard Cederberg (Gothenburg, Sweden) went on a straight line run towards the pass, flicking it over the line for his first career goal.

With the two goal lead, the Pirates continued to hunt for more offense. In the 63rd minute, the Seton Hall was awarded a free kick along the far sideline. James Boote (Southampton, England) launched the ball towards the near post, perfectly placed for Cederberg to get on the other end of it with his right foot for his second goal of the night.

UConn would not go away quietly however, as their pressure finally paid off with a 66th minute goal from Max Gummesson to cut into the deficit. Later in the 83rd minute, Nicolas Tomerius was able to make it a one-goal game after his tally off a corner kick that was mishandled by Mats Roorda (Groningen, Netherlands).

The Huskies attempted to maintain pressure, but in the 89th minute it was the Pirates' press that would lead to the fourth goal. UConn's goalkeeper played a pass from his own goal line that was intercepted by Tim Ströbeck (Hasselholm, Sweden). The junior sprinted downfield into the 18-yard box where he was taken down and a penalty was awarded. Boote stepped up to cap off his big night with his third goal of the season.
