Clutch Plays

The absolute worst play of the game was Epps faking/testing Wusu twice and going for it the third time to be blocked. Total hero ball. Had he passed, he’d probably get it back for an open 3. Instead, he sent Wusu racing to the basket.

And don’t get me wrong, great defense by Wusu to stick with him and make him pay for the dumb move.

in the end bad teams are bad for a reason. and we frequently lose trap games to them. team has big highs and big lows so showing they could come off an emotional win and avoid the let down was a big step.

the problem is they played like they should have lost. these unforced turnovers WILL catch up to them. clearly sha is on a mission to stop it.

I have rescheduled all family visits after that comeback win. I am surprised the police did not show up with my screams when Georgetown took the lead. This team at times can make you go for heartburn meds, but they are tough as nails. Kudos to all but especially Dylan,Dawes and Kadary.

Addae-Wusu with the charge and then the steal and-1.

Richmond, man. Great player.

Survive and advance. Whew.
Wusu defense before the steal was awesome. I wish the entire team would play defense like that on the perimeter and guarding the 3 pt. shot. The GT player was hell bent on talking the 3 point shot there and Wusu would have nothing to do with it.

Wusu is not running around or up and down the court aimlessly any longer as Sami was accurate in posting a while back.

The TOs were brutal and cant continue. But faced with a disheartening loss, we made all the right plays and pulled it out. I have seen good teams do that to us so many times.

Wusu was bad for 37 minutes tonight. And then he made the biggest plays of the game.

2:30 left, we are down 3, Gtown with the ball and momentum. Wusu steal. Gtown gets a bucket there and probably game over. Which would have been a disheartening loss given that we were shooting north of 60% from the field, almost 50% from 3 and almost 90% from the line (at the time).

Then Wusu follows that with the big strip steal and almost and one (missed FT).

Two biggest plays IMO. The charge was important too although I thought that was a BS call.

Every W on the road in the Big East is a good win. So glad the boys pulled this out. Making me believe. M

Few other thoughts:

1. My son’s CYO game had more fans than Gtown. I don’t normally care about or harp on such stuff. But others on this board probably lead college basketball fan boards in talking about our crowd, other crowds, etc. No home court advantage at all tonight.

2. This didn’t look at all like a Cooley team.

3. Their guards are the most undisciplined group I’ve seen this season. The amount of chucking, forced, unbalanced shots was crazy.

4. Norm Nixon gave us the A+ game tonight. Again. As others stated he eas great.

5. Magic was his usual good offensive self in the lane and around the basket. For every nice pass he made, there was an inexplicable turnover or forced pass we got lucky on. That drive at the end though was onions.

6. Young Michael Cooper gave us some nice minutes off the bench which was needed since the bench was a zero besides that.

Keep the momentum. It feels good to be 4-1 after how we started and what I thought about this team.

PS - Hall/Rutgers ML parlay tonight was +110, and I hit that with some nice $$$.

It’s crazy how people don’t realize this

For this to even be a question you have to completely ignore the defensive side of the ball. Isaiah was a complete beat on a the defensive end. Hustled his ass back and blocked shots he had no business getting his hands on.

" 1. My son’s CYO game had more fans than Gtown...."

On a related note, I watched the women on FS1 at home v. Marquette immediately after our game. I wondered if the campus was on lockdown.

Turn overs are bad enough...wonder how many UNforced turnovers we had.
That's the most annoying part. Most are unforced showing a lack of focus. Especially from Wusu.

Sha got so upset with him he pulled him in frustration once.

Wusu's stat line was strange to say the least.

2-2 from the field, 0-1 from the line, 1 rebound in 30 minutes, 2 assists, 5 turnovers, and 5 steals.

+/- doesn't always tell the story but last night his mixed effort did. +1.

Not sure it has to do with lack of focus or trying to do too much. Sometimes it’s okay to be boring and not force a pass, not try to take it 1 on 3, etc.

Noticed yesterday when Richmond went out, the team speeds up a bit, and some of those unforced errors occur. In golf, we call it "tempo"....Richmond controls the game with his tempo...when you speed up too much, mistakes happen.

Pete, those criticising Kooks, and there are only a few, have to watch the game more closely. When he sits the offense usually goes to hell.

Sure he has his flaws but he is absolutely crucial to anything the team does or will do moving forward.

Thank you, Jim Boeheim.

I loved Isaiah. Kadary averages more steals and consideraby more rebs. (He had 8 STEALS vs the defending NC!!) Ike was so awesome timing his jump on guys ahead of him and blocking layups from behind. But Kadary's defense helps us. And Ike played on a better team, at least we think today that they were better.

What BE player is playing better? Soriano? Shierman on CU maybe? Kolek? Alexander? KR is right up there.

I'll take his flaws any day. He has learned to take over the game when he needs to. He sets the tempo like I said earlier. It was night and day with him off the court yesterday. We are watching something special. Enjoy every game.

Huge statement for Sha's player development skills too.

If you're referring to me, I do not think it is being critical of KR to say that a 22-year old Isiah Whitehead would have been a better player against college competition. In fact if you compare Whitehead as a sophomore to Richmond as a sophomore, it isn't even close. Like, not in the same ballpark close. I know we are 4-1 and the kool-aid is guzzling, but I really don't think it is a controversial opinion nor am I knocking KR by having it.

That misses the point. You only saw the sophomore IW. You have to make an apples to apples comparison, because age and experience matters.

IW was 5 times the player KR was as a sophomore.

Now imagine the stat-line IW would have put up as a 22 year old playing in college still? You don't think he would have been able to rebound the ball at a high level?

IW also a much better defender than KR. Yes, KR gets steals and can cause problems with his length, but he isn't the on-ball menace IW was, again as a sophomore.

Why does everything I post seem to indicate a personal beef with a particular poster? I made a general statement and in no way am I referring to an individual.

Same thing happened yesterday on another thread.

If I have an issue with a singular poster I will call him/her out by name and then we can debate.
