Coleman Appreciation Thread

Yeah you missed the whole point. The point is that Ole Miss paid Dre Davis money that was a lot more than we could afford to be their secondary option. If we pay Coleman tht money it’s expected he be a star. Not 10ppg
Ah, economies of scale.

FWIW, Dre Davis is averaging 10.5/4.4/1.2 as a secondary option on a borderline top 25 team.

All significantly down from last year with us.

If we paid Coleman next year what Davis got this year and Coleman put up those numbers this board would go insane.
If we are as good as Ole Miss, and his numbers are down for that reason, people wouldn’t care. Especially off this season.

Of course. We aren't getting any discounts. We have to pay what he's worth AND convince him to stay.

That's where it's very important to have a decision-maker who is well-educated in the constantly changing market and can negotiate with agents. Even with a higher budget, I think we'll struggle getting established players this year.
Never mind discount, I don't think we are even going to be able to pay market rate. A place like Seton Hall will probably have to overpay for top talent.

Unlike many schools we have limited NIL money. So it is a matter of how much you are willing to spend on him. 1 million for him ? I pass .
Coleman is going to be the cheapest possible top starter on a Big East team for Seton Hall. It will always be easier and cheaper to retain talent than it is to attract that same level of talent. Seton Hall needs to pay to keep Coleman if it wants to act like a relevant basketball program.
