Coleman on the move?

What happened to our supposed NIL increase that is supposed to prevent us from once again losing our best player? Changes in our administration are needed! The only thing they do is try to blow smoke up our a $$ that everything is just fine while they continue to destroy our program!

Maybe it’s not entirely money? I don’t know.

maybe he wants to leave

maybe we dont wany him at tge price tag he wants

If true, it's very disappointing. I was hoping (and still am) that he might be that one player for the Hall who bucks the recent trend and stayed a career Pirate. Probably again, we'll never know what he is going to make somewhere else, what Coach Sha's actual budget is for 2025-26, and at what cost Coach Sha had Coleman evaluated for next year. Without this information, frankly, it's impossible for me to provide any critique of Coleman's decision to leave. Totally agree with bornApirate, though, don't drag this out. The earlier we have a decision, the better it allows the coach to implement his plan for next year.

Not exactly sure but possibly they don't think $750K+ is a good investment for a 2G that shoots 38% from the field & 31% from 3.

As soon as the Sleazy Agent made his Grand Entrance what does anyone think would happen? Sleaze Boy needs money and is doing his shopping.

Aside from the optics of losing our best player again, I don't feel anywhere the sense of loss that I have in previous episodes. First, he's not as good as some of those other guys. Second, unless he is still hampered by the injury that kept him out of the lineup at Creighton (which may well be the case), he's not been as good nor worth the type of money someone of his attendant hype will probably require. And if he's not giving us any home team discount (and again, I have no idea if he would or not), I'd feel fine rolling the dice on someone else at a similar price point.

In a perfect world, I'd like to keep him. Let me be clear about that. But not at any price, even one within our budget. He's a goof player. But he is not irreplaceable.

Maybe it’s budget (again). Maybe Seton Hall has deemed he’s not good enough to be part of a rebuild (I’d be SHOCKED by that bc he is). Maybe we don’t know what we’re doing with player values (again).

Or… maybe the guy wants a change. He just played for a team that will end up like 7-25 and 2-18 in the Big East playing home games in front of 3-5k people each night. It was freaking miserable. And you get to go to a program back on its feet in Louisville that returning to the NCAAT, drawing 15k fans, with all the perks and resources, and for a coach who you obviously liked and already committed to once before.

IDK if Coleman was suffering wear-and-tear, was just trying to get his, or what happened, but that’s a talented player in many areas who was in a terrible situation this year at Seton Hall. We will have a tough time getting comparable talent.

No matter what they tell you; "I wanted to be closer to home", "I really wanted to play for this coach", "They're a team on the rise", I'll always believe that 95% of the time it comes down to $$. But they, of course, won't say that.

Yes - this. At the end of the day we are just Seton Hall. I'm 20 years old and I can see the allure of a no strings attached move to a program like Louisville plus I'm getting paid more. Yes 100 million times yes. Like went Tae Davis went to Notre Dame. Duh. (who by the way averaged 15 & 5 this year playing 31 minutes a night).

Good for Tae, but he’s got somewhat ok numbers on a lousy team. Leads ND in turnovers too.

If this is true I’m assuming he will be sitting out the last regular season game + BET. Why risk a contract for two meaningless games?

as we say how we misread values over and over can we acknowledge that we have no idea what we offered anyone or are paying anyone.

It’s not going to be “true” until the portal opens. Trilly has been on this for a while.

Maybe it’ll change. Maybe Coleman will have his Willard moment when it was clear he was gone. Who knows!

It was whatever Sha needs until the school realized the number they put in a budget was based off what middle of the pack teams had for this season not next season.

As with every NIL season so far, I expect SHU to have half or less than half the funds needed to compete.

Exactly

Yeah, thats exactly where it's headed. The elite players will always get their money, but the mid-to-lower-tier guys will see inflated salaries just because the market demands it. Schools with big budgets will overpay for depth, while smaller programs will struggle to keep up.

Kalkbrenner took less money to stay at Creighton and play for McDermott.

Why can’t the majority of the people here admit that there’s a chance we have a coaching problem?

And people were on that thread lecturing us about how it doesn't mean anything. The naivete and blinders on here is astounding.

I was one of those people. And it yeah, it didn’t matter. It’s the way the game is being played now. Everyone has someone working for them.

Yes, you were (surprisingly). You're usually on the mark, won't hold this one against you.

Gee, if he leaves for an underwhelming dollar amount, maybe he doesn’t like Sha?

When a supposed announcement is locked in when the season is ongoing, when we apparently have much more funding, why not bitch like you always do and consider the fact that Sha is not a walking god.

I don’t know that to be true about Kalkbrenner, although it could be. That’s why I said 95%. To me, players either leave because they can make more money elsewhere or because they are being shown the door.

Of course, for Coleman, it could be he’s leaving because he doesn’t like Sha. I don’t know that. But by the same token, I’m assuming you don’t have any information that’s there’s an irreconcilable rift between the two either.

McDermott said it. Take his word, not mine.

Of course I don’t know that there’s an issue between the two. Doesn’t look like there is. But isn’t that the point? Sha is just another guy.
