There is a SHU Athletics tweet that is getting some traction for the wrong reasons and truly shows how feeble the whole Athletic Department is. Instead of taking a screenshot on a phone we have someone taking a picture of a computer screen and posting it about the game tomorrow.

I know its not a big deal, but it is another little thing that just shows we are lost.

Here’s a few possible explanations:

1. Our Account is run by a boomer who doesn’t know that you screenshot on a computer
2. Our account is run by someone completely inept at their job
3. This was Bryan Felt managing the account and it sums up all things SH athletics

OMG, I'm dying... 🤣🤣🤣💀

This stuff happens because this is what they are internally. They're already at 43k views, probably their most all year.

This has to roll up to either Peter Long or Tom Chen, no?

Yikes! We have one of the top business schools in the country, you’d think they could get one of those kids to help them out with this kind of stuff. Is the athletic department aware of the business school?
They don't do anything creative, very few things to generate any content or look like a professional operation. They just plod along. I mean just send the link out would've been better than this.

It's a tough, learning moment for the person who posted it - especially a lesson in how harsh people can be on social media. I'd venture a guess that it was a young person, early in his or her career. Why? Because that's who makes up most of the athletics staff. They'll learn and grow from it.

the business school seemed archaic when it got my first job and my entire industry wasn't even mentioned at any point in my 4 years. probably esteemed on the more traditional studies

Except the wasn't "trying to help" anything, he was trying to be a dick and publicly mock the staffer who posted it. Nothing he posted was even remotely in good faith and thus he has no grounds to feel wronged by the block.
he was locked up by shu athletics just like the thread about Felt here.

He wasn't "locked up," he's not prevented from posting, they're just sparing themselves needing to see his crap. Criticizing someone in Felt's position is one thing (though one I would still argue it would be wise to choose your words carefully with), but the continuous posts ranting against the social media admin were out of line.

felt gets paid nearly 400k per year and Lyons nearly 800k. The fact that they make that amount of $ and have helped to run seton hall athletics into the ground is a problem. I will continue to criticize them for the current job they are doing.

Disagree. The account represents SETON HALL. This is easy stuff. But school keeps telling everyone we were not behind on NIL.

School and students get plenty of praise here when the Hall Lights and other really professional videos are put out on social media.

He was being a dick, and he was mocking them. Why would someone on social media do anything "in good faith"? Microcosm of the larger scale issue that people have chirped about for years, and have either been ignored or told they are just complainers. I have a hard time believing this was some kind staffer, what teenager or early 20 something doesn't know how to screenshot and post to twitter? Either someone higher up thought this was ok, or there is no one higher up approving content posted by inexperienced personnel. In either case, this is below what our standard should be.

I have no issue with criticizing them, I have the issue with the excessive ripping on someone who makes more like 1/10th of that.

It's not like it was one critical post from him, it was continuous mocking, insulting posts, tagging Felt in several of them...it was really over the top and unnecessary.

The answer is not to block the poster. It draws more attention. Basic PR.

This is bad. There’s no way anybody with access to the social media accounts could be this bad at their job. You would think those people would be experts. Absolutely mind boggling

the guy was clearly being over the top. it wasnt a "mistake", the information was correct. it was just small time thing now getting blown out of proportion

Yeah, he was being over the top. But here is yet another example of just another "small time thing" that comes from Seton Hall. How many "small time things" does it take until we accept that there is a "big time problem" with how we operate?

I believe it is their most viewed post ever on the ‘SHUAthletics’ Twitter page. It’s probably time to take it down as people are just mocking the account and post. More comments than likes on Twitter is never a good sign.

Feel bad for the fella who posted it, but this is kind of embarrassing from the fan perspective. Just shows how far behind we are. We can’t even keep up with graphics for games?

It's got to be. They're up over 126,000 views!

Feel bad for the person who did it and the fact that the entire staff didn't see the traction it was getting and correct it. Unfortunately plays into the perception. As we've discussed a million times, The Hall does very little with marketing or the media so its defined by others like Goodman and the Field of 68 talking about the pitiful NIL or how bad we are this year or silly moments like this. Sad!

Every single tiny mistake deserves the utmost scrutiny with how poorly this team is performing. We are no longer a program. We have gone so far backwards that something so dumb as a pixelated X post deserves to be criticized. Everybody from the top down is fair game right now. You don’t like it? Do better. Simple.
I have been critical of the school on this thread, but let's not completely lose perspective. We have had a lousy year, but honestly we are just a reasonable free throw percentage from having only 2 losses.

The concern many have is whether the program, it's leaders and the school administration, learns from the issues of the past few years and if there is a moving forward plan.

Regardless of NIL, our facilities were pathetic. We needed the basketball center and it got done albeit late. Now, we need the leaders to continue to move forward.

One year removed from 13-7 in conference?

Major overreaction or agenda driven.

What does your husband think, LOL?

A couple more thoughts:

"All press is good press" - I don't particularly agree with this statement but in this case the sin is so incredibly minor that I think it applies. It generated attention and I'll guarantee more people are aware of this game being on Peacock than would be if they used a proper screenshot. Maybe some of them will even tune in.

The idea that they should have taken the post down and fixed it - I disagree, all that's going to get is a bunch of people responding with "receipt" screenshots of the original. Leave it up, own it, take the L. Actually, I think a GREAT response would be to come up with another super low-tech follow up to poke fun at themselves with. Maybe a picture of the pirate cozying up in front of an old tube TV asking what channel peacock is lol

It’s true that the Internet and social media is not the real world. The negative impact of a post like that is limited. With that said, it should have been taken down by now. It’s not unreasonable to ask that the communications department not post things that embarrass the University or the program.

Disagree on taking it down. Leaning into it and nailing a follow-up post will drive more engagement and turn the whole thing into a positive. Some light self deprecating humor here wins the day.
