Come on!!!

I have been critical of the school on this thread, but let's not completely lose perspective. We have had a lousy year, but honestly we are just a reasonable free throw percentage from having only 2 losses.

The concern many have is whether the program, it's leaders and the school administration, learns from the issues of the past few years and if there is a moving forward plan.

Regardless of NIL, our facilities were pathetic. We needed the basketball center and it got done albeit late. Now, we need the leaders to continue to move forward.
You’re being too generous. We own the 349th best (worst?) free throw percentage in the country. A “reasonable free throw percentage” starts by recruiting fundamentally sound basketball players. Last year with the likes of Kadary, Dre, and Dawes, we were 11th best. If that statistic alone doesn’t sum up what happened to our team, then I don’t know what does.

A couple more thoughts:

"All press is good press" - I don't particularly agree with this statement but in this case the sin is so incredibly minor that I think it applies. It generated attention and I'll guarantee more people are aware of this game being on Peacock than would be if they used a proper screenshot. Maybe some of them will even tune in.

The idea that they should have taken the post down and fixed it - I disagree, all that's going to get is a bunch of people responding with "receipt" screenshots of the original. Leave it up, own it, take the L. Actually, I think a GREAT response would be to come up with another super low-tech follow up to poke fun at themselves with. Maybe a picture of the pirate cozying up in front of an old tube TV asking what channel peacock is lol
THIS. Nailed it. I will now be disappointed if this isn’t the school’s response.

Off topic but Kadary and Dre's FT shooting have plummeted this year.

KR Shot 81% last season (82.6% in BE). Currently shooting 46% from the line at StJohns.

Dre shot 84% last season (85.9% in BE). Currently shooting 66.7% at Ole Miss.

FTs don’t matter when you getting paid the big bucks!

That’s either attributable to a small sample, bad luck, mental-induced fluctuations, or mechanical changes the kids are working through. Most likely some combination of the above.

Unless we think coaches who helped multiple kids make the NBA don’t know how to teach proper shooting form. I’m certainly not qualified to answer that from a message board.

Here’s a few possible explanations:

1. Our Account is run by a boomer who doesn’t know that you screenshot on a computer
2. Our account is run by someone completely inept at their job
3. This was Bryan Felt managing the account and it sums up all things SH athletics

Your general ignorance aside, do you know what a boomer even is? How many do you suppose are still in the workforce?

Great question. Can I take a shot? Unless someone has a passion for their work, then I would say not many successful boomers are in the workforce.

Now, there may be some where life didn’t go as planned. I think this universe is small given age, social security, and Medicare.

Now to get to the gist of your question. Do I think I boomer is running the SHU X handle? No, no I do not.

Dan,

I hope I covered you under the passion part!

Also, I think it would be better if a boomer ran SHU social media. I don’t think that was the question though :D

As for Kadary, I'm sure Pitino tweaked his shot with the promise he can improve his outside shooting and get to the NBA. We will see. So far it's not working as he is also 20% from 3.

That’s the popular narrative. I have no idea if it’s true. His shooting percentage from 3 plummeted last year on more attempts, and he’s never had a pretty jump shot. At his age, I’m not sure it’s fixable, and sometimes mechanical changes that are significant can take a long time to show because of all the muscle memory built up doing it a different way. Guys have improved their jump shots at various stages but it can take a long time, not months.
