Agreed but Creighton, Nova and UConn during the week.Feels like we have more weekend games this year which I‘m very happy to see.
awesome. means less likely for their fans to travel and will be popular gsmes for our fans anyway.Agreed but Creighton, Nova and UConn during the week.
I hope that you are right but our track record for 6:30 starts is not great for attendance. I hope that I’m wrong.awesome. means less likely for their fans to travel and will be popular gsmes for our fans anyway.
Heard willard complaining about the schedule
But Nova at Wells Fargo at leastSt. John’s in Queens.
see cats in dirty Philly guzzlin early! But Nova at Wells Fargo at least
Four BE games at the Garden. Not being able to look as I'm at work, how many games does SJU have at MSG. I know the new AD wanted to increase the # played there.
When will OOC times be announced? Did I miss them?
Surprised. Our recent SJ games at MSG drew amazingly well. Didnt go last year but the ones before that were rocking.St. John’s in Queens.
I’m slightly insulted they picked Georgetown over us for the 4th MSG game. Nova, PC, and UConn I get are the top 3 attendance draws with their fan base and how good PC is expected to be, but is doormat Georgetown really a better draw than us or was it a matter of just not being able to get both teams schedules to match MSG available dates? Meanwhile we get yet another New Years Eve game against them in Newark? Ugh.Surprised. Our recent SJ games at MSG drew amazingly well. Didnt go last year but the ones before that were rocking.
Simple, weeknight v weekend.Surprised. Our recent SJ games at MSG drew amazingly well. Didnt go last year but the ones before that were rocking.
Probably got an extra weekend home game in exchange the way everything sorts out - which is really complicated - but the St John’s game at MSG is never on a weeknight, so it could be another form of the famous quote, “These things have a way of working themselves out”I’m slightly insulted they picked Georgetown over us for the 4th MSG game. 6692 for the game at MSG last year. SH had a slightly larger crowd than the UConn game and almost 1.5K more than the Georgetown game. Nova blew everyone away with over 9K.Surprised. Our recent SJ games at MSG drew amazingly well. Didnt go last year but the ones before that were rocking.
Even though Georgetown has stunk recently they're still a name school alongside 'Nova and UConn.I’m slightly insulted they picked Georgetown over us for the 4th MSG game. Besides, with the exception of the 2021 COVID season, SJU hasn't played a regular season home game against Georgetown on campus since 1981.
I'm more insulted they chose PC over us. PC is basically playing Seton Hall except they have to travel further.
I agree with the weekend versus weeknight aspect though I'm not sure that's the final determinant.I knew they played GU at Garden most years, didn’t realize it was the past 40 straight. I think Georgetown has more fans at road games than home games these days. I think it’s also weekday vs weekend game factor like lloyde said. As for PC, they’re an OG Big East team, and they won the league and went to Sweet 16 last year. We didn’t, so I understand that “what have you done for me lately” factor which applies to us yet somehow not a team that didn’t win a single game last year in the league, doesn’t draw flies at home, yet still has a huge following nationally of fans stuck in the 1980s. Again, probably comes down to weekday games are easier in Queens and don’t justify MSG rent. The more I think about it, I think nearly all SJU’s games at MSG are weekend games…
It’s likely a combination of scheduling and that the current SJU President (or something like that) was at Providence for years and is tight with Cooley. Cooley openly despises playing in Queens - recall reading that from Braziller - and so I bet the former Prov guy threw him a bone since the scheduling works. They almost always pick Georgetown, Villanova and now UConn. The third or fourth game had been us lately, but they chose Providence this year and UConn being back moves us down a notch in the pecking order.
Why would SJU want to retaliate for a game where they beat us senseless and our own coach crapped on our building and said it benefited the opponent who plays in their own small gym at CA?I realize it was a result of covid rescheduling and we had no better option, but could any part of it be retaliation for us playing them at Walsh last year?
And I have no problem with it, we just need to do what they did at Walsh.
We effectively locked their fans out. What's the main benefit to them playing us on campus instead of at MSG? Far fewer SHU fans in attendance. Why would SJU want to retaliate for a game where they beat us senseless and our own coach crapped on our building and said it benefited the opponent who plays in their own small gym at CA?

I thought about that as well. I wouldn't rule out the possibility although I think it's small. COVID happened (and it happened to SJU as well) but that game could have been played in Newark. There were two available dates -- neither ideal -- and the Big East opted for the first one.Why would SJU want to retaliate for a game where they beat us senseless and our own coach crapped on our building and said it benefited the opponent who plays in their own small gym at CA?
Their fans have no history of coming to the other side of the river. We have a far bigger presence at MSG than they do at Prudential. We effectively locked their fans out. What's the main benefit to them playing us on campus instead of at MSG? Far fewer SHU fans in attendance.
Nothing to do with retaliation, I’m sure. They are only playing so many games at MSG right now it seems and the scheduling controls most all of that. If they could have had us for a weekend at MSG instead of Prov for a weeknight they dollars to donuts would have done that.I thought about that as well. Granted it's been 20 years since they've been consistently good and our showings at MSG always ebb and flow depending on where we are as a program.
