Creighton bails on Battle 4 Atlantis to play in Players Era Festival (NIL)

Whether we called or not, I'd say there was less zero chance of Seton Hall getting into the Players Era Festival in 2024. It does seem like a mistake, however, to commit to a non-NIL event for 2025.

Why the hell would you pass on Maui, especially when you have nothing else going on!? This is an amazing opportunity for Sha and our Pirates!

3 years ago this would have been a nice thing. Today Sha desperately needs the guaranteed Million dollars and potential to win another Million for Nil.
Asking the same readers over and over again to contribute to NIL isn't going to move the needle for the program. This tournament would have been a major shot in the arm.

When the tournament was announced the RU fanbase was quick to jump on it and push it with their admin. They didn't sit back hoping for an invite, they lobbied for it. They got in despite their lousy NCAA track record.

Now between RU and St John's we are getting squeezed out. The admin has to push to be in this even if it means cancelling the Maui tournament and paying a penalty. Sha can't work miracles every year with a bare war chest. We have to expand the NIL funnel or fall into irrelevance.

My guess is no one knows and the speculation is just the negativism that sometimes permeates on the board.

That plus we are not attractive enough roster wise at this point so we would never get an invite at this time.

Just the use of one word above …. readers … implies a thinking that those on this board are the only SHU fans out there. This group is dedicated, but a very small percentage of what’s out there.

You’ve apparently missed my posts where I’ve said we need to be leaders, not followers, but sadly we’re neither, we’re spectators! It’s horrible. We have too many people in positions of power who are insanely afraid of success! Hopefully this changes with the new President or we are royally screwed!

Winning team get to split up extra 1 million. That is crazy

I've had a feeling this would happen to incentivize the current roster when that NIL money will be spent on different players the following season.

I've mentioned before the conference tourney's should no longer be an automatic bid, make it an in season tournament with the same set up. Big NIL pot for next year with immediate cash rewards for current roster. Send the best mid-major teams who have proven it over the course of 4 months, not a team who gets hot over a weekend tournament. Dumb set up imo. Ensure the NCAA tourney truly has the best teams.
