Did Nova get jobbed?

Villanova not getting all the bogus Wright calls. Few years since the days when you would look up at scoreboard with one minute left to go in first half and they would have one foul.

Dixon pushes off with his off arm every time he touches ball and is never called.

If anything, Nova got Luis-ed last night. He beat them to every big loose ball on the boards.

in a critical spot he made a great drive and next possesion passed up an open three and hit a pullup from the line. both the shots we saw all last year. maybe his nil insists they limit his usage lol.

Richmonds numbers are down versus last year in PPG,Rebounds and assists. His wallet may be fatter but he's not improving his chances of an NBA career. So much for Ricks player development not that he sincerely cares about that.

He took a short-sighted approach. his career earnings will suffer and he may even have jeopardized them by exposing for all to see his inability to make an uncontested long-range jump shot.

If Whitehead and Powell can't make it in NBA KR has zero chance. Its a league of 3 point shooters even if you're 7'3"!

He was never going to sniff the NBA. He's making the most money in a year now than he likely will for the rest of his career. He's still personal non grata for taking the money at St. John's rather than a team he didn't compete against for years, but it wasn't a bad financial decision. That's just silly.

It was a mistake for Kadary to leave seton hall but it’s only half his fault. We needed to find the money to keep him and didn’t.

It’s also hilarious folks question player development when it comes to Rick Pitino.

Richmond is somewhat of a square peg in a round hole there, but when I last checked - and I don’t often because I don’t care that much - his numbers were pretty similar to last year at the Hall when you account for the drop in usage rate.

Which was going to happen if he played on any other roster across the country that had depth and versatility at the guards and wings and multiple playmaking options operating within a team concept.

Foul disparity in our game vs Prov. was pretty obvious too. I believe they only had 2 fouls in the entire 1st half.

Home teams typically get a good whistle unless Jay Wright is on the opposing sideline, IMO (also, his later Nova teams were so smart and under control this no doubt was part of it too)

Hard to analyze a foul disparity question when you don't watch an entire game. I didn't think ours was too bad yesterday given Providence was the home team and b/c of how we play offense.

With Nova/SJU, isn't really that surprising given how those teams play. Whenever I watch Nova, it is so much about getting Dixon in favorable matchups and then him going to work or setting up others in favorable spots to score (except for perhaps Wooga). Poplar is really turning it on and attacks the basket, but the other kids surrounding Dixon tend to be shooters or the big kid whose job is to rebound and protect the paint). Whereas St John's has kids who attack the glass and paint relentlessly, which is going to lead to more trips to the foul line.

the fact is he is the exact same player. even pitino said it. he does the same things he just doesnt have the ball as much. if kr did exactly what he did last year with the same numbers pitino would have been given the credit. instead he has devalued a kid he called the best player in the coubtry in preseason. i am sure he has reasons.

kr shot 44 % as a soph from 3 - 24 % last yr and 16 % this yr.

fwiw i have pitino at the top of the coach of tge past 39 yrs list. not the best but one of the best.

See I’m not sure it is “devalued” to simply have less usage and points. It’s all the context of who you are playing with and what those teammates can and can’t do. Credit Kadary for not “bitching” and being unselfish, and he has always been someone who is deferential by nature.

so you dont think stats are used to set value on players?

and its not like he isnt playing. he averages a minute less. and i say devalue as it applies solely to kr. if he was building on last yr as one might expect he might be in all america talk. not sure he is all BE this yr.

and pitino using him so less frequently imo raises questions about him.

No, I think it’s a by-product of playing with another PG, another wing who is a playmaker, and another guard that Pitino is trying to develop into more than just a shooter. Plus depth and playing in a more pro-style offense.

We will see if Dev Smith is out for a while and what it looks like.

Richmond played 33 min had 9 5 and 4...the other kids if they can score and shoot st johns will be fine...richmond doesnt need to score on this squad
