one thing you could say about this team is that sans The St John’s game at Walsh, this team fought every game. Yeah, the offense sucked, but they scratched and clawed. Last night looked like a team of individuals all with uncertainty of their futures and maybe wanting to get to next steps in life. The team is usually a reflection of the coach. No way Willard could have been mentally prepared if he was finalizing a deal with Maryland.
also, I don’t think there was barely any recognition on campus of the team’s tourney bid. No send offs, no watch parties, nada. That’s terrible. Maybe that’s more in Bryan Felt’s camp but you get the feeling that all parties were getting ready for next steps rather than going out to San Diego to win some games.
