Dimon on MAGA

I agree, but the media is going to make anyone in the White House divisive. The TwitterGuy might be pissed at me for saying this, but the media is killing the country as they brainwash people.
The MSM and social media are killing this country. Prime example: I have Twiiter Guy and the Geico Caveman on Ignore, because they have been sucked into the media and social media vortex and are not capable of independent thought....my side against your side....primitive. Just wash, rinse , repeat the same talking points non-stop.

It's pretty obvious that the news media is motivated by money, not providing facts, balance and thought provoking discourse. They are contributing to the downfall of this country and the tools on either extreme play into it.

if you want not for profit tune to cspan or npr. An election year is primo real estate to make money. I would say that primetime news across the cable landscape have turned into hosting editorial op eds. You got to ice cream parlor you have flavors to choose from with the scoops. Domestically you have platforms that cater to an already established belief system.

they shouldn’t be allowed to be called news. To use your example, there’s labels on ice cream so you know what you’re getting. Calories, fat, sugar, etc you can choose to ignore it but you’re being told. People believe they’re getting news and they are not.

Just watched some of Haley on a CNN town hall. We are missing out if we don't elect her. She has all the right stuff. I'm rarely impressed with politicians, but I am with her.

The most outlandish take on board history
😂

I’d expect that from the lemmings but not from you.

Guy, she’s just as fake as Harris.

She is a WEF puppet - like Trudeau, Newsom

There are many videos of her 💯 flip flopping on almost every issue in the last few years- depending on what group she’s talking to or what state she’s in.

There is nothing authentic about her.

Take a sec and think why the regime fake news is promoting her. They would never “endorse” a proAmerica Conservative, EVER

You seem like a really nice guy but please do more research from independent media sources about the candidates.

Nikki is fugazzi.

Biden and Trump are dangerous, primarily as they are both incredibly divisive. It's killing the country and the ability to get things done.
they are both soup for brains. thats what i was getting at

As usual, this adds nothing to the conversation. Or are adding valuable context for the people who didn't know these names?
I previously posted primetime hosts across the cable news genre are editorial op eds...do you watch national broadcast news at night abc, cbs, nbc? Do you feel they only show/tell stories that are divisive or report news of the day?

No I don't. I used to actually watch the first 10 minutes of Tucker and the first 10 minutes of Cuomo as I thought those segments tended to be news based. The rest of their shows and every other show is just base pandering. Everything has a hard spin, never just the news.

Cspan you get house and senate floors, book tour engagements, commencement speeches; likely low rated but government funded.

Next week watch one night of abc, nbc, pbs news hour, cbs then newsnation at 7pm hour.

People talk about banning Tik Tok. In a perfect world, I'd ban all social media, but I fully realize that is not feasible. There would be unintended consequences. That said, I don't know how we fix it. The toothpaste is out of the tube.

Did not know that, thanks.
If one could look at timing of those, one would think it would have either been a political ploy that had Trump won in 2020, the next Republican would be pumping the extension of those cuts as a critical point. If he lost, which he did, it’ll become a talking point this summer for his reelection as extension of his cuts.

And if a Democrat wins and they don’t extend or address, it’ll demonize them at mid-term elections and through the end of the first term.

They begin sunsetting in 2025 and fully expire in 2026.

Corporate cuts don’t expire.

If you’re a 1099, you’re kissing your QBI 20% deduction goodbye.

I'd be surprised if they aren't extended at some point. Republicans obviously will try to do so. Democrats would be demonized for raising taxes on individuals if they didn't. If Dems are in power at that time, I'd expect them to try to raise corporate taxes in exchange for keeping the Trump tax cuts for people under a certain income level (Biden has already laid out $400K). Seems to fit their M.O.

That still doesn't solve the problem that people are getting opinions which so called news channels want to put out there to make money and calling it news.

You will never say a bad thing about the media. It's the viewer at home's fault. All issues have 2 sides. You might believe the opoid issue is not a pharmaceutical problem, the people at home should know better not to take them. Obesity has nothing to do with how foods are marketed, people should know better what they're eating. There's 2 sides to all these problems, yet on this issue you give the media a full pass. Stop blowing the media and see what's going on. Yeah people should know better, but what do we do to protect those who don't. I'll bet when it comes to opoids and obesity you think we should protect the consumer. But when your heros in the media take advantage of those who don't know better, you don't care about protecting those consumers.

The media is lazy and focuses most of their energy on divisive issues and creating more divisiveness.

How many times a day did the MSM show the Access Hollywood tape of Trump during the 2016 campaign (and even during Kavanaugh's SCOTUS hearings).

Why does the media only report police shootings of "unarmed" black men, but never races or colors of other shootings where the victim is "unarmed"?

And you hit the nail on the head with our dependence on pharmaceuticals and ignoring the comorbid conditions that could have prevented (and would prevent) unnecessary deaths. They can focus thousands of hours on Nikki Haley failing to answer a question that specifically calls out the Civil War in a Town Hall meeting from a plant, but virtually no time spent on issues more critical to the health of the country (Ultra Processed Foods). The only network I have seen do any in-depth reporting of the most recent COVID strain being developed in China was News Nation...the interview with Dr. Birx last night should concern all of us.

I would say there are personalities in the media who deliver opinions i do not agree with at all times. I suppose you are influenced by commercials and print ads. I drank gatorade but i knew i never was gonna turn into michael jordan.

On this very board we have posters who sway anti liberal and pro conservative. People who endorse personalities like Tucker. I mean if you don't like something change the channel.

By the way, I have worked in the media for the better part of 20 years. I have even been affiliated with league owned and operated media which aims to market the enthusiam of the product but sanitizes the context. I have experience in cable news on both sides of the pendulum. One of the more tasteful, appreciative days in my professional career was being part of a presentation of the broadcast day on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

However, I will call out fact from fiction. Much like what the House Dems have done in committee hearings the last 13 months.

I also would say we live in a free market capitalistic society. So, I feel comfortable in earning a living and seeing companies monetize and profit so that they can pay the everyday folks good living competitive wages.

I would say if you have customers that like coming to your restaurant for pizza and pasta you wouldn't change the menu to plant based faux food items. People are going to consume FNC a bit more than MSNBC, which gets a bit more than CNN which gets a bit more than Newsmax and NewsNation. I have no doubt Nexstar the parent of NewsNation is going to empty the budget bucket on being a major player in cable news. They are adding sat and sun morning original news programming for 3 hours each end of month and they have a DC Sunday show coming in 6 weeks or so. They are a unionized labor shop, they are competitive with the rates for the markets they are in. It is good to have industry competition for the product and the workforce.

There was a platform on cable 15 years back, Planet Green, it was rebranded because it had no legitimate viewership though I liked the programming on it.

There was a documentary done for 30 days on consuming a fast food only diet. Supersize Me...it showed that BP went up, cholesterol went up and the healthcare providers told the guy whatever you are doing reverse it and stop it immediately.

Media 101 answer the question you want to answer, not the question you are asked. FYI, they flat out told you in those gatorade commercials IF I could be like Mike, not you're going to be Mike if you drink Gatorade. Calling the crap on TV every night news is a lie. Saying you'd turn into Mike would've been a lie, but they didn't say that. Don't call this crap news.

Also your analogy is as dumb as you are. It's a commercial. They tell you it's an advertisement. They're telling you we're trying to sell you. As far as CNN, Foxnews, MSDNC, Newsmax, they're claiming to be news programs when they are not.

Will you be watching 1 ep each next week of abc, cbs, nbc at 630, pbs newshour and then 7pm newsnation?

You're an ass. You will get answers to your questions when you answer the question I have been asking for 2 hours.
If i don't like something I change the channel. I didn't base a drama or sitcom on a platform based on if the parent has a cable platform that swings left or right.

What can I tell you that will satisfy you at this point?

That's not the point. Address the issue. It's not about you liking something. It's about claiming to be news when it's not.

You had thyroid issues. If you're buying things that claim to help your thyroid, shouldn't they help your thyroid. If they don't shouldn't the company have the responsibility to tell you or stop claiming it helps thyroids? If you claim to be news and you're only about putting your spin on things, you shouldn't be allowed to called news, it's not news. No different than food needs to meet certain requirements to put certain phrases or titles on the product.

If you feel so strong about it write the house member that represents your CD. I agree there is opinion, bias, slant in presentation of coverage.

After this exchange I guess you're a fan of rules for thee but not for me. We in the media can do what we want as far as preying on the consumer and building up hate and division, but you people in other industries shouldn't be allowed to prey on consumers because you're getting them fat or addicted to things

FNC is liberal media?
No genius, but they do the same things all your liberal media stations do as far as claiming to be news when they are not. No different than CNN and all your other liberal sources and you'll never go against what they do. This is unbelievable that you went this long without a tweet. Congrats to you. However end of the day you are smart enough to know FNC, CNN and all the rest of them prey on the weak to stir the pot and get viewers, which creates hate and division for their own financial benefit. So next time we read about fair wages and treating people right and all that other stuff you put on here, remember you support those preying on the weak to keep hate and division alive.

He's gonna cut corporate taxes again and sell out his base of supporters and they're such rubes they'll probably love him for it even more.

Of course Jamie Dimon is gonna say he was right about key issues! Of course the Davos elite are going to be A-OK with with having him as president again.

If Trump really is the scourge of the globalist elite, as at least one person likes to claim around here, why do they seem perfectly fine with him being president again?

From that piece: "U.S. industry leaders seem overwhelmingly nonplussed with a second Trump term, while foreign chief executives are terrified — particularly of restrictions on immigration and potential global conflicts."

I'm no Trumpster, but as far as I know there are at least two global conflicts going on now, and I don't seem to recall any during the 2016-2020 years. That said, inserting Trump into two active global conflicts seems almost as frightening as being led by an absolute bottom-of-the-barrel Democrat.

a bad look is nominating donald trump. a vote for donald is not only simply mind boggling at this point, but its essentially pushing for a biden/kamala presidency. but the republicans are too stupid to realize this. 52% in Iowa!
Agreed. I just don't think they have any faith that another (R) could win.

Nah, Trump will broker peace again.

Bidunce , Kerry, Haley and the rest of the war hawks want world conflict.

i think thats misguided. i dont even know who the dems are even running against biden. at this point all roads lead to biden even if trump doesnt get the nod. if R's can eliminate trump does biden really have a shot?

Yes.. Haley and the civil war thing will be brought up 1000 times and DeSantis is already hated by Dems. So I think there's enough to turnout voters to vote against those 2.

I still think Haley or Desantis would beat Biden easily but Trump is going to lose again if he is on the ballot and worse than he did last time.

The majority of voters on both sides will not be swayed. I think there are enough in the middle that don't want to vote for Biden that would vote for Haley or Desantis but would stick with Biden against Trump.
