Our school has many successful graduates in its history, do we have NO OTHER WELL OFF ALUMNI aside from Mr. Kurtz to help us out? Like did no SHU fan who graduated the Hall make it well in the real world? I find that hard to believe considering Butler, Xavier, etc seem to be doing lovely in their mid west doldrums meanwhile none of our SHU Pirate NYC/NJ market alumni are up to par? Sounds iffy to me ..... The Stillman graduates on wall street where they at?

Mo Vaughn and his partner sold off their property portfolio for a billion dollars. That does not include all the money he made in MLB.

Yes there are a number of well ( however you want to define that) but our leaders are inept at connecting and then closing deals

Would imagine these guys have a few bucks.

William F. Andrews, former chairman of the Singer Corporation and the Corrections Corporation of America

Orin R. Smith (M.B.A., 1964), former chairman and CEO of Engelhard Corporation

Raymond G. Chambers (M.B.A., 1968), currently serves as United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Malaria

Robert J. Wussler (B.A., 1957), co-founder of CNN

Max Weinberg, drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and bandleader of The Max Weinberg 7 on Late Night with Conan O'Brien

Craig Biggio, former Major League Baseballplayer for the Houston Astros and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame

Bart Oates (J.D.), football player, three-time Super Bowl champion and president of the New Jersey Hall of Fame

And unless Wussler left a trust for shu in his will good luck as he passed away in 2010

You have to have people with deep pockets who have a big interest in basketball and the program. The two don't necessarily go hand in hand. There are people who would rather fund other more important college efforts.

Im just saying we had a few pro guys in bball and baseball, I'm sure we had some bball fans who are alumni, these board or regent guys don't they have money?

You need deep pocketed alums who truly bleed Pirate Blue. We seem to be in short supply of those. And if you read the comments here regularly, as I do, you’d worry what we have a surfeit of is complaining, unhappy, discontented alums who shoot first then get the facts.

What is interesting is IF we had a big big whale who wanted to fund this program it would mean adios Sha because no one would fund him like that.

Remember Repole only became Mr St Johns when his bff was hired, and I don’t mean that as a dig, it was a genius move by St. John’s

I mean they always did..remember every season “buy-out” decisions

My point was the irony we are in..without a whale we have Sha who is clueless but with a whale they would never ever give Sha money

Having a connection with a HC that is on the Mt Rushmore of college basketball coaches helps the cause too. If Norm Roberts were Repole’s buddy, they would be K State last year, if that.

They’ve always had big influence. Now maybe more than ever because it’s street legal. How much influence depends, I’m sure. Do I think the Tyson Foods guy tells Cal who to recruit and play? Not for a second.

Dumb take, and now you've stated it twice on one thread. If SHU had a "whale" budget, there would be no complaints.
