Do you believe now or......

The man just went through the worst 5 years of his life and you think he wants to do it again???
Said very much with tongue in cheek, it was never meant to be serious but , at the same time I could see Hobbs touching base with KW if he would have any interest in coming to RU.

Not sure if you are trolling or not, but sure seems like it to me.

I personally disagree, but that is fine. Where is he leaving seton hall to go? Are you assuming we lose out and he get canned? I don't understand.

I for one am pulling for willard and I think he gets bashed far too often on this board but put me in the minority here

No I've been saying that I think they dance this year. If Whitehead comes back they will dance again next year and probably do some damage. Willard wants out. If he takes Seton Hall to the dance 2 years in a row bigger schools will come calling. He'll be the "flavor of the week." Might happen this year.

You forgot one!

I believe he will join Hobbs at RU.

I believe and have always believed. I’m a Seton Hall graduate and most of all a lifelong fan, what else would do?
I believe:

1) Coach Willard was always a good hire, but had lessons to learn. He still has more learning to do, mostly on recruiting and managing individual personas.
2) SHU will finish out the regular season with 4-1 record to finish at 12-6. Think they might even pull off 5-0 and 13-5, but X might be tough.
3) Ismael Sanogo can and will hit a few clutch free throws for us down the stretch!
4) Derrick Gordon and Isaiah Whitehead are our team leaders, and they both want this bad
5) Unfortunately, as we make a run into March and the NCAA’s, IW will also make a run at the NBA and Derrick will complete his NCAA eligibility. One (or more) of our sophomores, soon to be juniors, need to take on the leadership role on next year’s team. We will still have a decent Big East team
6) We win 2 games in NCAA to make the Final 16

I believe this team works hard, but I hate to go completely all in. We are legit there is no question about that, but how many times can you have your heart busted open when the goal was easily in our grasp? I believe we are legit. I will cheer my heart out, but for now I am cautiously optimistic.

I started to believe after the Wichita State and Marquette games. However, I'm an optimist. The question in everyone's mind was the Team going to collapse like the year before. I thought no for two reasons: (1) the Team was playing good defense and not relying on the three; and -(2) Sina and Gibbs were gone, and with them a lot of the strife that tore the Team apart last year. Not putting all the blame on the departing players because our freshmen were partly to blame last year as well.

I'm a believe me at the beginning of every season. I had us as a 21 win 11 BEC win team when Dan does those threads.

Then the season starts and I become a victim of seton-hall-osis.

I started to become cautiously optimistic after the Prov game and the showing at home against Nova (which we should have won).

Still not ready to go all in, but I'm close.

"Belief" like "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder.

Let's talk wagering.

What odds would I take at this point that SHU wins the games it needs to dance?

If it were a proven coach and these same players were seniors: 1:4 (VERY confident)

If it were a proven coach and these kids remained as they are (sophs & frosh): 1:2.5 (still confident) These guys know how to "win ugly"

With this coach and these players being SENIORS: 1:1.5

With this coach and sophs/frosh: 1:1 A coin toss. I will be no more or less surprised either way --- given this coach's track record.

These kids get a chip on their shoulders if/when they lose the first time around. That's outside of any coach's influence --- it's pride in themselves. But I fear sophs & frosh who read their own positive press clippings. I fear complacency. And that is something a good coach can influence (not eliminate).

Once burned, twice shy.
Twice burned? Use asbestos.

Do I relish what I have been seeing? ABSOLUTELY!

I believe. Just hoping not to get screwed by committee (play-in game, virtual homegame for the opponent etc.)
The way you do not get "screwed" is by winning. It solves all the problems. If we do what we need to do, (win 3), everything else will fall into place. The one thing I have not seen is that actual "killer instinct" in this team. We go up by 10 and then we take the hot players out of the game. I would like a strong game against St. Johns.

Let's not forget that a huge part of the no field goals for 14 minutes streak was that Georgetown was committing fouls. There's a ton of difference between a no FG streak (especially when you are ahead in the 6 to 12 point range) and a scoreless streak.

Lloyde. Exactly right. You can't score FGs when you're getting fouled on almost every possession.

I believe in the talent of this team. I think this team is good enough to make an impact.

But, last night's game was troubling in one big respect. Seton Hall in the last 14 minutes of the game did not score from the field. Or if it did it was at the very end of the game. Willard has shown improvement this year, i.e. defense and inbound plays. But, are you telling me you can't draw up a couple of plays to score in 10 minutes of a game? That was the troubling area of the game for me last night. Thankfully, the free throw shooting was excellent. Free throws can just save the game for a team. That is how all those Duke teams survived scares and Nova. They shoot lights out from the line.
The not making a field goal in the last 14 minutes is a little misleading because we only attempted nine shots during that timeframe due to the large number of fouls by Georgetown. We probably had 25 possessions in that time frame and more than half of them resulted in foul shots.

Good teams do what's necessary to win.. Sometimes from the floor. Sometimes the arc. Sometimes the foul line or under the boards or on defense.

Doesn't matter how it just matters that they won.

Sign me up for this!...

Totally agree. G-town was fouling constantly because they couldn't stop our penetration and, later in the half, just to stop the clock. Some of their fouls were to stop us from scoring on lay ups.

Excellent point, and definitely mitigating.

I was more concerned with the poor contribution from our bench. Our starters were gassed.

I am starting to believe but still having some doubts. I am not expecting this team to beat Butler and Xavier. If we beat Providence at home and win against St. John's and DePaul away I will be a firm believer!

I believe for sure. I've gone from hoping for wins to expecting them. This team now shows composure and confidence. Hope it grows with every win. And they're still heading upward.

I think the answer is simple, beat St. Johns, beat Prov, and then beat X out of our building, then beat Butler out of their own building, then get 3 years of payback on Depaul for 2012.

Yes, exactly. And regardless, winning while scoring no fgs to me is an accomplishnent.

Huge win.

I think it was that second Creighton game that made me a believer. The wichita game had me thinking you had a good team. And this win last night makes me think you are dancing and the team is ready to win games in March.
