DOGE

Good example of why taking time and getting things right is more important than getting things done quickly
This is a carbon copy of what he did at Twitter. Certainly not the traditional way to restructure a company. It’s incredibly messy and they ended up hiring some of the terminated employees back. My gut tells me that he had the DOGE team analyze when people logged on and off the system or when they came in to the office. Directionally helpful, but not perfect.

I think the primary purpose though was to show that Trump was acting immediately on another one of his campaign promises (government waste) and it was ammunition to get the CR passed (which it did). Accuracy was not as important as speed to get information out there. Between the border, DOGE, Ukraine and Gaza hardly any attention was paid to his cabinet nominees, inflation and a number of the other things.

and it was ammunition to get the CR passed

The CR was always going to pass. They always pass it through the drama.

Accuracy was not as important as speed to get information out there.

Right, and that is a bad thing.
Err on the side of caution. I’d rather 5 ineligible people receive benefits for the next 6 months while they actually take them time to analyze the data and validate eligible recipients than kick 1 eligible person off.

It didn’t need to be quick. It would be far easier to sell this stuff as a good thing if they showed that they cared at all about collateral damage.

Like I said, it was a strategy move. They wanted to get a whole bunch of data out there quickly and make some decisions and were less concerned about the accuracy.

Trump essentially has a year and a half to get as much of his agenda done as possible because he won’t be able to count on the midterms. It’s a mad dash on all fronts. Time is not his friend and 2026 will tell us about how the public feels.
