Tennessee fires him after one season b/c more NCAA sanctions are coming. They were still recovering from the Bruce Pearl stuff, hired Tyndall and then he immediately got caught for some shady stuff he did with Southern Miss player prior. Crazy. I wouldn't go anywhere near that debacle.

Found this quote interesting:

"It is disappointing that we have to take this action," Hart said. "It is highly likely that Coach Tyndall will face significant penalties at the conclusion of the NCAA's infractions process. We believe this decision is in the best interests of the University of Tennessee."

He's likely going to get nailed with a suspension and a "show cause" penalty. This was an easy way for Tennessee to fire him with cause and not pay his buyout (of course Tyndall will sue Tennessee for that). This mess is on the AD as much as is it is on Tyndall.

Did these infractions only occur at his previous job? If not, doesn't the University take the brunt of the penalties in these cases? That's kind of why I found the quote interesting. Or is this the equivalent of UT acting proactively in hopes of reducing their penalties like Syracuse's lame self-imposed post-season ban this year?

Oh wow, stop the presses, call up channel 2! A SEC school actually is accused of wrong doing? Heck them, The Patriot League and Ivy league always do it correctly with sports! Caught all of us completely off guard!!!

Everything that Tyndall was accused of happened at Southern Miss. I think this is Tennessee realizing they made a mistake by hiring a coach under investigation, firing a coach without having to buy him out, and hoping to ensure what Tyndall did at USM didn't happen in his less than 12 month tenure in Knoxville.

A bit of sarcasm LF. I've been haring tha about the SEC since I was in 8th grade. Almost 50 years ago.
