lost again. Now 15-6 and 4-4 yet still in top 25. Travesty. It's nbeluevable how a name carries so much weight.

It's ridiculous that 4-4 in conference with that overall should be there. They aren't even close..

Their losses are to Kentucky, Syracuse, a good Miami team, and they got sniped by a hot Clemson team at the time.

Why is their ranking so bad?

how impressive is Larranga (Sp) with the job he is doing at Miami? Not a young guy and he's pretty much made Miami a player in ACC Basketball. Very impressive.

I agree with this. They also have nice wins over UNC and Indiana. I loathe Duke, but they are not a ridiculous inclusion in the top 25.

Duke will likely fall out of the AP Top 25 for the first time in 167 weeks following Monday's loss at Miami. (Steve Mitchell / USA Today)

When the new AP Top 25 rankings come out on Monday, defending champion Duke likely will tumble out of the poll.

The Blue Devils, No. 24 in the poll released Monday, lost at No. 15 Miami, 80-69, on Monday night thanks to Angel Rodriguez's 13 points, 11 assists and 5 rebounds.

Duke has been ranked for 167 straight weeks. Kansas, which also lost Monday at Iowa State, 85-72, holds the next-longest streak at 135 weeks. Arizona has been ranked for 71 consecutive weeks.

Miami fans chanted "Over-rated" at Duke (15-6, 4-4 ACC), which seemed somewhat counterintuitive considering Miami was ranked nine spots higher than the Blue Devils.

"I'm glad that the students were yelling overrated, I didn't know we were rated," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said with a smile. "Thank you. We got six guys. I don't know, were we rated? Were we No. 1 now? Or whatever."

The Blue Devils have lost four of five and in their next six games face Louisville twice and North Carolina and Virginia once apiece.

The old guys like Larranaga at Miami and Brown at SMU are getting the job done. Of course I guess you'll have to add in Boeheim who just turned 70 and Coach K who will be 68 in February as " old guy s" as well.

no amile jefferson and all these loses come up, should duke still have been ranked this week, i don't believe so

Why doesn't Coack K play his bench more? Almost his entire bench could start for most of the country.

As far as Larranaga, let's see what he does without Rodriguez next season. He's the key component, and the most clutch player in the country imo. I know they have a solid class coming in, but still.

The guys who are on the bench and fit what you said are playing a lot off the bench. The rest of the bench isn't good and they have no developed big men outside of Jefferson and the 47th Plumlee brother. Chase Jeter should get better as the season goes on, but he's still pretty raw. Brandon Ingram is picking up some of the slack, but he would much rather play on the perimeter.

WSU is also ranked, with worse losses...They haven't lost since they were knocked off by the mighty Pirates of Seton Hall. They are 13-5.

You do know that WSU's losses came when their All American point guard was injured. We beat them at full strength and they haven't lost since.

Yes, I do. Not unlike to Duke's situation. WSU wont lose again and will rise in the rankings. Major conference teams of similar ability will lose games and be ranked far behind. WSU is a bigger example of bad ranking than Duke imo.

I'm not questioning Duke. Certainly would never want to face them in the NCAAs. Just don't undervalue WSU. They've proven the past 3+ years that they are legit and it was a big win for us.
