Forgive my naïveté, but is there reason to believe Danny would have been treated much better there? He was taking crap because he was Bob’s son and Bobby’s brother, right? I don’t see how that changes if he goes there. The only difference was Seton Hall was a prominent and relevant college basketball program at the time. More attention. Higher standard.

I guess he’s saying he perhaps would have been more anonymous and have much less pressure playing for a totally shit program that had no expectation of winning tournament games, let alone making The Dance. Maybe. Or maybe their miserable fans would have latched onto him for being a Hurley and given him even more flack.

Also, didn’t he meet his wife at Seton Hall? Yeah, seems like he made the right choice then.

I didn’t take it as a swipe at SHU. it’s understandable that after feeling the weight of following Bobby at St Anthony and having to live up to that standard, that he would want to avoid that situation again. Even though Bobby never went to SHU, he probably felt that he would have to live up to fans’ expectations of what could have been.

Heard these stories before. Any particular reason they hated Sr.?
yes. they were friends with the hc of a jc public school and he didbt like bob sr. the first time dan got in a game they stood up abd booed and one yelled "He's a ham 'n egger" (will never forget due to the oddness of the phrase)

imo, dan thought in retrospect that playing at a sightky lower kevel, not with the guys he grew up with, and not for a guy like PJ, may have helped

He didn't provide the reason, but he took a major ration of s**t from some a***ole Seton Hall fans. He couldn't match his brother's excellence and thus he became a favorite target of the lower rung of fandom.
And opposing fans were absolutely ruthless toward him. I mean, that's kind of their job, but, with the benefit of hindsight, it was pretty bad.

Remember the "you're not Bobby!" chants. As it turns out, that was right where his head was at the time.
