I still view him positively but also don't like his antics. The eventual fallout with Trump was obvious though.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a meltdown of the relationship.

There needs to be more expense cuts, but look at the reaction to the Medicaid cuts that are very reasonable.

I said I wouldn’t be surprised. Nothing surprises me anymore. You call Musk a “jerk”. I call him one of the most intelligent and important innovative minds that has benefited this country immeasurably. And yes, he is a damaged guy, has Asperger’s and doesn’t have a filter.

Battle of two ego maniacs has to have an ending. I have posted this before. I believe Musk wants to be de facto President since he can’t actually run for it. He will run candidates and own them due to his vast wealth. And it seems that’s what he wants to do. Question is that I have always had about him is this. What is he politically? Is he someone who thought he could just manipulate Trump into doing what he wants and thus his shift to the right. Or, has he really shifted to right of Trump and will continue crazy conspiracies that he throws out.
If you look at history, Musk wants to be able to advance his vision and innovations. He also had very little interest in taking an active role in politics prior to this election. (He walked out of a room on Trump in 2016).
He also strongly believes in meritocracy and despised the DEI and woke policies that Democrats embraced.
Add to this that we are at a dangerous precipice on AI (which he wants to help shape, and should be fostered as a co-developed utility) so I can see why he wanted a seat at the table now.
Musk had to leave anyway. It’s funny to see Democrats rally to his side now.

To the extent any Democrats are actually doing this, it's probably a cynical attempt to get his money.

While those two pumped millions into campaigns of local elections and maybe some congressional seats. Musk is on a far different level where his wealth will effect US senate seats and the Presidency itself. He will own the politician and if he does not do what he wants, he will primary them out.
This type of iron fisted control has not been seen really before on the national level and I can only liken it to what Norcross is here in NJ especially in south jersey. He is the boss of the southern democrats and everyone else is just a puppet. That’s how I am seeing what Musk wants to accomplish.

You are not getting it. Musk wants to be the de facto President in my opinion. Other people wanted to donate to gain influence over policy decisions that affected them. Whether it was religious or business. In my opinion, Musk is different. He wants to control the government not just the policies that affect his business but everything the government is involved in. He is more of a Norcross except on a national scale. Norcross is the boss, he controls the politicians. This is how I see Musk. Any other examples are not it.
For example, Peter Thiel wants to influence government policy to adopt crypto. But he has no interest being the president.
I don’t think you could be more wrong on Musk. There is nothing about his past that shows an interest in being a de facto president. The businesses he has created has been good for the environment, national security or improved health. His businesses have made our country stronger.
He has also been outspoken about the importance of AI and also the danger of not managed appropriately. My opinion is that he saw a chance to influence policy regarding AI and government waste. SpaceX, Starlink and Neuralink will make major impacts in the years to come.
His past is irrelevant. Look what he has done recently and what he is saying. He stated that In November he told the people to fire those politicians that will vote for the bill. He also stated that Trump will be here for 3 years but he will be here for 40 years. These are obvious threats to those who go against him.

Well he is going to be here for 40+ years if he keeps innovating like he had. SpaceX will continue to be a critical part of NASA and the space program. Starlink will continue to be critical to communications when disasters strike and in conflicts, and it may also play a role in the investment in air traffic control.
Trump will be gone in 2028. That’s not disputable.
Musk cannot operate in a system like the cabinet because he doesn’t have the awareness or patience. He sees the solution and just barrels forward. He never even contributed much before the last election. Dems salivated over him at the time because of Tesla. Will he fund a candidate going forward? I don’t think so. The only reason IMO that he got behind Trump was that he saw the danger in another Biden term or worse yet, Harris.
