Why is dre davis not starting? Hes our leading scorer. Seems like sha is overthinking this. Dre needs to start. Now for pf we have a problem. Tray has the height and ability to score but thin. KC is way too small and not a scorer. Yes hes active and tough but neither is a great pf. Whats with starting femi? What does he give us? Shaheen preaches defense but we got shredded.
What happened to his back doors he ran at st peters? Tyrese sits too long. Seems like he put in tae to spite tyrese. We get it but taes not gonna get it done. Kadary is a freakin mystery but who plays along with AL? Just so many question marks up and down this squad

Hockey this is not - enough of this. The best players need to start most of the minutes.

Khadary will transfer our next year at this rate - against Memphis he played 17 minutes - silly.

Al slipped two games in a row in crunch time? Get him some new sneakers or get him to slow down.

As the great UCLA coach, John Wooden, loved to say, be quick, but don’t hurry. We are rushing way too much and what results is often forced and sloppy.

Hoping the coaches and guys figure it out soon. BE is a tough and smart league. Very senior and disciplined coaches.

With 4 minutes left , down 6 , Sha had the Davis brothers, Femi , Dawes and Harris playing????

I’m replaying this in my head and still can’t come up with an answer. Was he teaching lessons? Did he actually think that combination of players gave us our best chance to win? Truly head scratching.

I think we was pissed at Tyrese and kadary. But I thought this lineup to end the game isn't gonna work. Dre Davis 18 min? Unless hes on restricted min for his knee

We would all need to attend practice sessions to truly understand what Sha is thinking. Personally think he sees the big picture. I’m not going to judge him until I see how we play in February. I want to win in February and March more than November and December. Anyone with any history knows that PJ’s teams peaked end of the year.

You are right generally. But, you don’t need to be in practice that our best player has been Samuel at a position that no one else can really fill at Thais moment. So he is critical to be on the floor and he is only seeing 14-16 minutes a game and that is not because of foul trouble. That’s insane. No excuses for that at all.

It’s what Sha does. But he’s been around the Big East long enough to know that shouldn’t be the case here. I can only hope he’s doing it now as it’s a bunch of new players and he’s trying to figure things out and give guys a chance.

However, I don’t think we have the talent this year to expect to win. This reminds me a lot of those 2007-2012 teams. Some good individual players, but always missing a key piece or two.

Who cares if Kadary transfers? He averages what, 4 points per game? A walk on can do that if you have him 20-25 minutes a game.

He can’t shoot, has zero fire in him. He’s not a winning player. Sorry. I don’t want to hear about his talent anymore. Some guys just don’t care enough.

I agree. I don’t have any clue what’s going on there.
I’ll play the other side of the coin here. Before I do that, let me say we definitely need to have Samuel on the court, for his size on both ends of the floor.

However, even though I believe he has improved, he still isn’t strong at defending the pick and roll and is ok (at best) at defending the post. If he is in the game with foul trouble he gets even more timid and exposed on defense.

He also lacks game awareness as to how important he is relative to the fouls he commits. The first 3 fouls he collected last night were so petty that you can’t put yourself in those situations holding and grabbing 18 feet from the basket.

I also thought last night one of the announcers made a great point that Samuel isn’t as polished of a back to the basket scorer against a larger player like Groves. He should have faced him up and shot over him or used his athleticism / quickness to draw another foul. Instead he had some low quality back to the basket moves that resulted in forced shots that were way off.

Maybe Sha is seeing things that I mentioned above and is taking him out for coaching moments. 🤷‍♂️

Even still. With as foul prone as Samuel is, there is a very little chance he can stay on the floor for 30+ minutes even if he is our best / most important guy out there.

And the drop off behind him is seismic and is killing us. Samuel should be allowed to get 5 fouls per game.

I disagree. He’s one of the few players on our roster who had NBA talent. One of the assistant coaches told me that a GM of an NBA team went out of his way to inquire about Richmond.

He’s not a fire and brimstone guy, just needs to find his groove in this new regime.

Lol.. yeah the scouts are banging down the door for players that score 18 points total against Monmouth, St. Peter’s, and the juggernaut known as Wagner. Richmond belongs on one of those teams, not the NBA

Early in the game, Samuel faced up and hit a nice 10-12 foot jump shot. Looked smooth and comfortable. But this team needs him inside.

Agree, he can’t stay on the floor for 30 minutes. I think Sha is well aware of this and has to use him strategically. In the last two games Tyrese had 3 fouls at the 18 minute mark of the 2nd half.

Yeah I think there was also more than one missed dunk by us in the game. If you are going to drive to the rim you better make it or at the very least get fouled and have a chance at the line. To often we penetrate and get stuffed or we throw up some circus shot.

Yeah, go run your mouth at the assistant coach on our staff who talked to the GM. Richmond has interest, needs to perform now up to the talent.

Man your post is spot on. I am not making a statement about Kadary but the same thing was said about Kadrius Toney on the Giants. What a talent he is and how good he will be that you can't trade him. Sometimes enough is enough with these type of guys.

While it was wrong and low class of Boeheim to make comments about a player who left, he definitely seem to be pretty accurate.
Like him or not, Jimmy B has forgotten more basketball than any of us here will ever know combined. He said Kadary was a talented kid, but hadn’t done what he needed to optimize that potential.

Also, I recall some thinking Jimmy B ran him out because he wanted the Girard kid and his son to play the guard spots (he used Kadary on the wing his freshman year, where he had some really nice games during the dance). I never thought Jimmy B would intentionally use a player in a spot that wouldn’t maximize output, because the guy wants to win. He clearly liked KR more in that role and after watching him now for a while, I like him as a playmaking wing more than a traditional point. Jimmy B already has his young talent Mintz playing significant minutes as a point/combo guard, sharing responsibility with Girard.
