take the effort of the game and use it as energy going forward, would have liked a cleaner inbounds play/pass/catch at end but have always thought this is the part of the head coach/staff that always shows the worst at the worst times...one thing though after this game, terrible of willard to come out and say the way the league schedules games it is a competitive disadvantage because xavier gets an extra day between, they schedule games this way so all 10 teams can benefit from a national cable package, how many times in the old big east would a team play saturday and then be on big monday with a less than 48 hour turnaround? a lot actually

Well, there is the fact that X played a tough, physical 9pm game (think it started at 8:45) on Tuesday and we played a tough, physical 9pm game on Wednesday.

His point was about preparation. Xavier has not just the extra day to set up a game plan but they're at home while we have to lose a day flying out there.

I agree with his compliant but also agree the words were best left unsaid as they sound like an excuse.

The complaint isn't valid at all. If the Big East had to make every coach happy with the schedule, then there wouldn't be a season. The schedule is very balanced for the conference. You don't see McDermott making a preemptive excuse when his team has to log the most mileage and gets no relief on the fly out, fly home, fly out again stretches throughout the season.

His point was spot on. But that doesn't mean that SHU is the only team that faces this issue. Thus my comment about his words being best left unsaid.

I really didn't like Gordon's decision making down the stretch.

He took two out of control/low percentage shots, missed them both.
And then how the heck can he not call time out on the throw in?

He played like a true frosh and not a senior.

IW also should have drove and kicked out to DR or KC as they were left wide open.

IW is clearly the best talent on the floor but it's a team game and that's how you win tight games down the stretch.
Ball movement so players can take high % shots.

Bitter loss because it was right there for the taking.

That's just one reason road games are rightfully considered such a challenge. But it's always been that way; it didn't being when Kevin Willard got to the Big East.

dan they are flying/flew from newark to cincy, maybe 2 hours tops in the air, could have had a light walk through/day after practice midday and then fly or fly and then go do something, they can watch film session or whatever and now have all of friday, it isn't like they played wednesday late and then had to fly to oregon to play a game friday

again old big east how about a notre dame maybe having to host an espn primetime game on a saturday night and then play at syracuse on monday at 7, same scenario here, they got the national cable and broadcast deal with fox and fs 1, deal with it

Gordon had a bad game for his standards. You expect your senior/leader to be smarter than that.

You then have to wonder if KW's complaint (not sure if he whines constantly about different aspects of the Big East) is then "saturated" between the refs that are employed by the Big East!

My point was simple. Everyone goes through what we are going through in this case.

Willard's words are correct but best left unsaid. It sounds like an excuse and serves no purposed being aired to the public.

Sort of the way Wright handled his post game conference where he repeatedly noted he didn't want to talk about the refs knowing it would sound like an excuse in a one point victory.

I totally disagree. They've had plenty of time to setup a game plan, plenty of time knowing they would be facing this situation and they had months to set up this trip and allocate their time and resources wisely. This type of scheduling is normal for the BE conference tournament, NCAA tournament and the NBA. No excuses when you have had 6 months to prepare for this situation. People face adversity everyday and it's a part of life.

It's unfortunate that he aired his complaint but not out of pattern for Kevin. He has been overly honest sometimes with his comments. He should focus on making some noise and winning a lot of games and gaining some respect for the program and then statements like that will carry more weight.
