Fatima

When I was about 21, just graduated from SHU and working at ABC, a receptionist gave me a pocket edition of Lucia's memoir recounting our Lady's apparitions. That little book changed my life. I began praying the Rosary daily, going to confession weekly, reading the four Gospels, and going to daily Mass.

There is a beautiful book on the youngest visionary, Jacinta Marto, who I believe was canonized today with her brother, Francisco. Written by the late Fr. Christopher Renger, it is entitled Jacinta: The Youngest Prophet. Beautiful book.

The mantle of atheism brandished 100 years ago by the Communists is now flaunted in the halls of Academe and our youth do not comprehend that there is a thing called truth.

Praying the Rosary does work!!!

The way, the truth and the light

I suggest this thread be moved to the "off the ship" board

At that point l would be most pleased to engage Solo.

I agree. But I'll delay that until tonight so our readers understand it was not deleted.

I object. Many posts are left on the mainboard even though they have nothing to do with Seton Hall or Big East Sports. Now I see a hijacking for a discussion of communism, quite different from the purpose of my original posting, which was to bring attention to the very important appearance of the Blessed Virgin carrying the word of the Lord. Seton Hall is still Catholic, isn't it? In any case I will be remarking on the other appearances by the Blessed Mother at Fatima, such as the view of Hell and culminating in the magnificent Miracle of the Sun in October. Who knows? Some lost souls might be recovered by learning of the wonderful events of a hundred years ago. That would be even more significant than discussing who will play center next season

Why not delete the post hijacking belluno's post into a political discussion.

At this point l am not sure whether or not my post qualifies as a hijacking.

That said, l will delete anything Belluno wishes.

No need to delete anything. I am no evangelist, but I have visited Fatima and been affected by its holiness. All I wanted to do is give the Mother of God her rightful place in the sun in commemoration of her appearance. There is so much written about her visits, that I hope and pray some lost souls will find their way back to God's good graces, inspired, perhaps, by a few words appearing in this thread. Maybe I jumped the gun in seeing politics looming, but I see no harm in keeping this on the main board

Obviously, keeping the VM off the main board is important to some. But her Immaculate Heart will always conquer

I am sorry, Belluno, that this was moved against your wishes. That said, now I feel it more appropriate for me to respond to my good friend Bobbie Solo:

Bobbie,
are you saying that the communists were not atheist? Are you saying that they were not against all churches, but especially the Catholic Church? I find this hard to believe. Could you please supply some historical references for this point of view?
