I ever recall Jerry Carino silent on social media about a game we played. I know he was at MSG for Ru and it was basically the same time but other than a tweet around starting lineup his X account was silent on the Hall. Sad commentary. We’ve fallen into near obscurity.

Yes i realize there will be some story on the game from AP or the like but JC silent is truly unusual.

We’ve been there before. The first 10+ years of this century we were complete afterthoughts despite 2 NCAA’s. We were never a contender in the Big East, had no truly marketable players, no national buzz.

I would feel that is somewhat misleading....summer of 2000 fox sports .com had shu ranked preseason #1...a mcdonalds all american stayed 4 years, appeared on letterman...shu was on free to air tv on cbs and abc, numerous priority appearances on espn or espn 2

Not really a huge deal but to the point of the OP

wFan yesterday all morning and through the 10-1 show update went through the full slate of local college basketball teams and SHU/Creighton wasn’t mentioned on any

A little rough

Yet, one can make the argument that RU is having a more disappointing season. As an avid Hall fan, I saw this season for us coming a mile away, even those most here were delusional. If I was an RU alum/fan, I’d jump off a bridge. To not make the tourny with those 2 guys is perhaps the biggest failure in local sports history. JC is dying, yet refuses to call Pikell out. Or Sha for that matter.

JC has not called Pike out but he has, in his way, called out Sha, saying this is the worst group of bigs he’s ever seen in the BE ( well who brought them in) and calling for line up changes. It hasn’t been overly aggressive but the point was made— bad job by Holloway his year.

Did shaheen not land other bigs because hes an awful saleman or did better playera take more money and go elsewhere? I guarantee the latter. Stoo asking sha to sell these better players to take less money. You are delusional if u thi k he can do that

The other bigs Sha went after and didn’t get haven’t done anything this season either.

What is there for Jerry or anyone else to report on. The program is dead silent besides the two hours of a game when we get our doors blown off. Then back to dead silence.

I’d take Great Osobor’s 15.5/8.6 average. Even Supreme Cook’s 6.2/2.8 in 17 minutes.
Were we ever in on Osobor? I don't think so. Was at Bunny's yet didn't visit Seton Hall. Pretty decent though.

Cook was/is a flake. Him and Sha would not have worked.

Churchill Abbas? Terrible.

Who else was there?

Rutgers had over 15,000 fans at game. That is pretty good and a lot more than us right now no matter what. They deserve the attention

Btw there is currently a thread on Rutgers board blaming their disaster of a season on poor NIL

It’s very good when you consider their record, even with two huge alumni bases. Bailey and Harper. Rutgers doesn’t get kids like that and one is from this area. It’s why those kids are worth it for them even with their record and even if they don’t dance.

Even recent high school bigs we were recruiting aren’t doing well.
Diop in Colorado is avg 4 points 4 rebs in 17 minutes a game. Baye Fall is at Kansas State now where he transferred from Arkansas. Avg 2 pts and 1 reb in 6 minutes a game. 29th ranked prospect in 2023.

Highly ranked 4 ⭐️ aren’t a guarantee success in CBB.

Ausar at Utah also. He’s been really up and down. The big kid Essandoko from St. joes has struggled on a crappy Providence team.

Looking back on our recruiting, there were almost no paths to fielding a good roster.

While some are saying that it is not all about the amount of NIL. It is better recruiting priorities.

Paying your good players should be Seton Hall's number 1 priority and we have failed woefully and not solely based on amount of money available

It was a different time, but Willard rarely lost a player he wanted to keep on the team.

I agree, but imagine the kind of money Myles Powell would have commanded in 2020. Or Delgado. Or Whitehead. What are the odds Willard keeps those kids in 2025?

Fair point, but we would have paid whatever we had to fight to retain. Not sure if that has been the retention strategy the last few years.

Zero. Hiring their handler-coaches wouldn’t have helped either.

Dehere, even Holloway himself would’ve been the same story most likely.
Amazing how if you asked most college graduates if they would have liked to spend an additional year in college for free, they would all say yes. However, the sit out rule was such a transfer deterrent.

You can get another degree, work towards a masters. Just shows how these athletes never received good guidance for the most part.
