No, but they were missing Phil Sims and Jeff Hosteler was the QB when they beat the Bills. Ohio State got in the CFP when Cardale Jones was their 3rd string QB.Were the Giants missing Eli Manning when they beat the Pats twice? Bad comparison

FY24 state budget of Florida includes $1M allocated to fight for FSU in court
So did Liberty. They won all of their games.
They deserve to be in the playoffs
Both conferences have 4 top 25 teams. I think you’re really over rating PAC12.Pac 12 was a much stronger conference than the ACC this year. Georgia is a 14 point favorite over Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Georgia would be favored against any of the remaining 4 also.
Penn State’s 1973 commencement long will be remembered for delivering one of the great lines in college football (and American political) history.Huh?

“I’ve wondered how President Nixon could know so little about Watergate in 1973 and so much about college football in 1969,” Joe Paterno said in his address.
Audio of that speech resurfaces in a new ESPN Films documentary that examines the 1969 college football season. “Nixon’s National Champs” explores President Richard Nixon’s decision essentially to name Texas the de facto champion of college football, even though Penn State had finished the season 11-0.
i pulled this from a paywall website, but apparently nixon actually picked the champion back in the day
And with that you made my point.Different conferences
Washington vs. Michigan in the final with Washington winning, best coach wins.
Very sound take. I am in 100% agreement.I feel bad for FSU but I really don't see the controversy here. When you are down your best player, you are not the same team that went 13-0 and won the conference championship. They were leapfrogged by the SEC Champion, who just beat the No. 1 team that won 29 straight games. We are going to a 12 team playoff next year. Hopefully it's the last time we have one of these situations where an undefeated conference champion is left out of the playoff.
The ACC stunk this year. Very weak year for them.FSU is undefeated in a major conference with no slouch of a schedule. ncaa football has basically turned into figure skating.
ncaa simply cant have SEC not be in the playoffs. bad for business, so they hosed FSU.
Silly to say Georgia —as good as they have been—are by far the best when they just got beat. Strikes me that the committee —as messed up as they are— ended up selecting the four most dangerous teams in the game. And that should make for two excellent games. Then they should have at least 2 SEC teams in. Georgia is by far the best team in the country. They lost by 3 for the first time in over 2 seasons.
And the ACC stunk this year. No way FSU is as good as the four selected teams…and the fact that they are 14 point underdogs to Georgia in their bowl game is further proof.Different conferences
their schedule with wins against ranked teams speaks for itself. The ACC stunk this year. Very weak year for them.
