Game Set Match for shu athletics

Idk. As a former college athlete. I find these allegations extremely unlikely.

If anything they are being exaggerated. There’s no way a team of 25-30 players would all take part of that sick sht. No chance

There’s almost always a coach in the locker room before and after practice or games. Players don’t just hang out in the locker room for fun. They immediately leave to party, go home, etc.

Remember how many here reveled when scandals surfaced at Rutgers: Bannon, Rice, Hobbs?

To be honest, I think there’s a sense here that if true, obviously unfortunate for the kid, but an opportunity for the school to finally wake up and clean house. And if that’s how it all turns out, people here will be reveling as well.

The odds of seton hall becoming a legitimate contender in baseball is even more far fetched than basketball. Think about that

Can’t speak for athletics, but in the frat life, we were hazed mercilessly.

Seton Hall’s brand is taking a big hit lately - they better get their heads out of their ass and do something or the whole school may be on shaky ground.

This article greatly over exaggerates seton hall’s position in the overall college baseball landscape.
When I was at the school, our baseball team had Mo Vaughn, Craig Biggio, John Valentin,
and Kevin Morton, all of whom played at the MLB level. Dana Brown ended up as the GM of the Astros. Marteese Robinson wasn’t chopped live either.

My, how the mighty have fallen…

Seton Hall coaching issues the last 15 years:
2010: Gonzo stealing purses from the mall
2013: softball coach accused of verbal abuse
2014-2017: soccer coach sleeping with the obese volleyball coach in the coaches offices on an air mattress
2022: Kevin Willard quits on the team
2024: Sha puts together the worst roster in school history
2024: Shep allows sexual assault in the locker room

25-30 players don't have to take part in it, but it's very easy for that many to look the other way, never bring it up, etc. You say this, and yet every so often news like this comes out. Entire programs in high school or college getting nailed for this kind of stuff. Again, all it takes is a few bad apples, zero leadership from the coaching staff, and a bunch of kids who will mind their own business as to not jeopardize things for themselves.

That said, this Post article looks like it was written by someone that never heard of Seton Hall, our baseball program, or even college baseball. They exaggerated so much about our school and program, it would not surprise me if it were to come out that they exaggerated his accounting of what happened either.

I also am not a fan of anonymous articles like this. I understand why they are done this way, but you should have to put your name on and own things like this. It was easy enough to figure out who it was anyway.

Who would want to send their kid there to play baseball? Even if not entirely accurate, it certainly would put up a big caution flag for recruits. Most will stay away and Shep is rolling downhill at record speed joined by Felt.

Not to pile on, and totally different and less serious criticism, but not a fan of shep in the slightest

I have a kid, senior now, who went to all SHU camps and invite camps as a Sophomore and at a time really really liked SHU and shep wouldn’t give him the time of day and basically told him to get lost they weren’t interested at all

Now the kid is a D1 signee and will be drafted in July..not saying coaches don’t miss but to take a kid and tell him to basically get lost so young shows me he’s lost

I wont comment on Robbie as a coach but as a person I will. I went to High School with Robbie. Always low key, never thought who he was or acted cool because he came from a high profile baseball family. When my mother was sick with cancer Robbie reached out to see if she was well enough to throw out the first pitch at a home game. Any time I run into him he makes a big deal of my kids. When Gonzo treated Shep Sr. like shit on campus, Robbie stepped up and defended his father. Gonzo never one to back away from a fight, shit his pants when he saw the fire in Robbie's eyes. I can go on and on about his character as a person.

Joe Paterno also balanced his story with plenty of whitewashing. Power that does not stand up for those with little or no leverage is corrupt. In this case, the coach (who is only in his job in the first place because of nepotism and Seton Hall's myopic focus on job searches) is also incompetent. There is zero reason to retain him.

We'll see what truth comes out, but I suspect a settlement will be the next news item on this. My only other comment is that I entered Seton Hall with the thought that I may try my hand at walking onto the baseball team after an off the radar high school baseball "career", but it took one class with kids on the team in my first semester to realize that I wanted no part of the program.

Awful stuff. Did we get a commit from a potential pro, or from a HS kid who dreamed of being a pro? Odd how they never state how our MLB pipeline is rather empty now, and for the past 15-20 years or so. The actual post article, it reads like they think Biden is our coach lol.

Seton hall is in really bad spot. Too many lawsuits to just settle. At some point if you’re right, you gotta spend the money to protect your name. You can’t settle just because it’s in your best financial interest short term. To me settling will be an admission of some guilt and if that happens, a lot of people have to go, administrators, coaches, players and if they could identify anyone else who knew about these acts if true.

huh? coaches are NOT in the locker room and players absolutely spend time there. theres so much downtime in the locker room.

the baseball team was always filled with massive douchebags (not all of them) so this isn't surprising in the least.

I thought of him, but didn't realize he was an All-Star -- like, sure enough to not even check.. He was a decent pitcher, though, good enough to stick for 17 years. But even he'll be 50 next year.
4th overall pick 97, Morris was 12th in 95
