Here is what’s frustrating, Dawes is gone after this season. At some point you have to build for the next season. Coleman and Sanders are both long term players. If you don’t play them they will end up in the portal. Just play them.
we could only hope, but against top competition all the weaknesses in his game are exposed. Shot selection, defense, decision making, etc.If dawes has an average game this is a toss up. Frustrating.
I didnt think we had a chance either but it was a 3 point game deep into the second half. We could have won. But we make the same mistakes in our perimeter defense every game. Dawes excels at times against mid to low major opponents. But against high major competition, he is out of his league. I do not like to pick on one player but there are just so many things that need to be re-evaluated in his play. He might improve if he came off the bench strategically.Good effort and got some bench guys some minutes. Good to see EHE. Never thought we had a chance. Gotta tighten up our D though. And how do you solve the Dawes problem. Have to lower his minutes from here on out and work the rotation some more.
As bad as his shooting was, his D was even worse right down to Baylor's final basket.Dawes gave us nothing...actually a minus nothing
And he finished the game with ridiculous drives into traffic. As bad as his shooting was, his D was even worse right down to Baylor's final basket.
What 3-pt shooting? His 6-35 against real competition? We don’t need that.We need Dawes three point shooting but he’s a such a liability against good teams. double edged sword.
I disagree. I like Coleman & sanders but they don’t have the firepower we need to win a game like this. We needed Dawes to get hot, unfortunately he was terrible. If he was benched we would have had a chance
I think Coleman's defense would have been better. On offense he probably could have score a few baskets. His development will be rapid because he has great talent. If he had Dawes' minutes tonight, we might have had a chance to win.I disagree. I like Coleman & sanders but they don’t have the firepower we need to win a game like this. Agree. It wasn’t an 18 point game. Simply ran out of gas and Baylor ran it down our throat the last few minutes. We hung in against supposedly the best offensive team in the country and a top four 3 point shooting team. Kadary kept us in the game but we just didn’t shoot well enough. Baylor just clogged the middle as the 2nd half wore on. Some good minutes from EHE and Tubek which is important going forward.i’m not surprised orupset that we lost, but I didn’t like the way we finished the game. That Davis flagrant foul was really stupid, and ended up with an 18 point loss when we really played better than that, I thought the defense held an absolute juggernaut to nearly 20 points below their average. There was some good, but the finish definitely left a bad taste for me.
Baylor is very good offensively -- one of the best teams in the country on that end of the floor. I doubt they'll be able to maintain a 90 point per game average once Big 12 play starts.i’m not surprised orupset that we lost, but I didn’t like the way we finished the game. Our guards besides dawes shot 12 for 22, 2 for 5 from three. But the other guy...omg...our guards can’t shoot.
This. Dawes misses an assignment— no problem. Sanders god forbid misses an assignment— screaming, yelling, and a seat on the bench. If we really were a good defensive team maybe you cant play sanders. But we arent close. He might give up an open three?
I don’t consider Davis a guard. Richmond took 1 3pt shot the whole game. Wasu was ok. Coleman and Sanders were a combined 0-1. Problem with Dawes is if he misses his first few shots his game goes into a tail spin. He didn’t attempt a shot the second half until the game was out of hand and was against horrid. If they are going to play him they need to get him set up for some open looks early. If he’s off, he rides the pine. He’s not the type to shoot himself out of it. Missing weighs on him. He’s not like Hazell or Powell who had the mentality that the next one was going in.Our guards besides dawes shot 12 for 22, 2 for 5 from three. But the other guy...omg
It’s not like Richmond doesn’t give up a ton of open 3’s. Dawes does worse, he gives an open 3 then compounds it by fouling him on his close outs. I feel bad for him. You can see it on his face, he has no confidence. If we really were a good defensive team maybe you cant play sanders. But we arent close. He might give up an open three?
Right. So some on here want to have the coach rip him on the radio. It’s not like Richmond doesn’t give up a ton of open 3’s. Dawes does worse, he gives an open 3 then compounds it by fouling him on his close outs. I feel bad for him. You can see it on his face, he has no confidence.
