Correct. When 60-80% of the playera on the floor are just not offensively skilled then defense (which looks pretty bad tonight) will never be enough. (As I watch another Pirate miss a point blank layup and we can’t even make 60% of our free throws).
Apparently playing the point involves running the clock down to 5 seconds and then driving into a hoard of defenders and throwing up a shot that has no chance of going in. Brutal.
I actually have come to realize that it’s mostly on Sha. Not saying we have world beaters on this team but he makes his point guard pound the ball while Sha scouts the defense. Sha then tells which players to go where and only then is the dude dribbling the ball for 15 seconds allowed to do something.
Sha takes micromanaging to a new level. So weird. If they choose to think for themselves, they are rewarded with a long water break and a spot in his doghouse. Coaching this way is absurd.

The guys are afraid to make a mistake.
Prince was the prime example. Stepped one inch out of line and he was gutted by Sha up until tonight where he was let loose.
Play freely and get publicly berated or do what he says and earn playing time? Tough choice.
C'mon do you really think the Hall will go 0-20? You are smarter than that.
While watching the last couple of games i tried to be realistic with wins moving forward. I would say maybe one of the next two, probably not. In conference play I'd say 4-6 wins being generous. I could see improved play and a possible upset in the first game of The BE Tournament. Trying to be optimistic, but real. If Harmon were to come back in some capacity it could possibly change the dynamic.
0-20, then go on a run in the Big East Tournament and make the NCAA's!!!
Last year DePaul went 0-20 in conference play. And lost to SHU at home 72-39.
Since joining the BE they have also had BE seasons of:
0-18 (1)
1-17 (2)
2-16 (2)
3-15 (4)
3-17 (1)
We are also not that far removed from the 2021-22 season in which Georgetown went 0-19 in BE play and also lost in the 1st round of the BE tournament.
GT is a combined 4-55 in the past 3 seasons during BE regular season play.
Sometimes when you’re bad, you’re just bad.
Let’s hope that our Pirates don’t have that historically bad of a season. But to sit back and say that having a horrific BE season is not in the cards after what we have seen so far….well…history says differently.
Fingers crossed that Sha gets the team to gel and we at least finish ahead of DePaul and Gtown, maybe even throw in a few unexpected upsets along the way.
