Game Thread: Seton Hall vs. St. John’s

We have lost this many games with him, we can do just as well without him. Besides the center, they all can go

There are no moral victories, just victories. But I do think today's game was a good reflection on the coaches and players in that at least they played hard. When you're 7-21 and easily one of the worst power conference teams in the country, it would have been very easy on March 1st to just pack it in. I do take this away as a positive. I hope they come out as focused for the final two games and the Big East tournament. Continue to coach and play basketball. Show some pride.

This Ayo guy the difference.
He misplayed a bunch of the PNRs, leading to our easy buckets, but in fairness to him he was only playing minutes because Pitino chose to rest Scott and the Glover kid is out. He gave them good minutes when you consider the context.

Kudos to Godswill (getting better and better) and we had an Okorafor sighting to boot! Nice contributions from them today.
combined 15 and 8 from them is a win, even though SJU and Zuby in particular abused us on the offensive glass, which you kind of expected. SJU normally switches everything it seems and wasn’t doing that probably because of our personnel, but they took advtange off the open rolls a number of times.

Defensive game plan was good. We also executed well out of time outs and got very good shots. Some head scratching turnovers, and we needed some other guys to step up. Great effort by Wusu. He carried us. FTs and guys not named Wusu did not step up. Good game for us. Our D is improving.

Not the best way to look at it imo. Both teams miss shots, the point is to miss less than your opponent does, particularly from the charity stripe. We make our free throws and it would have been their fans wondering what happened, not us.
SH normally misses more than their opponents. Last few years, putrid from the line.

Agreed and that's the whole point. We consistently give winnable games away because we consistently fail and taking the free points. This most recent game was yet another example. Can't worry about what other teams are doing at the charity stripe, we control our own destiny there and we stink at it.

He filled in great. Was highly efficient offensively (166 o-rating), also had a game-high +16 when he was on the floor. And he gave them 30 minutes, insane. He now averages 7.5/game. SMH.
