Game Thread: Seton Hall vs Xavier

In the meantime I'm just going to root for the team. No reason to treat this team like it's an NCAA or bust program. Just support the guys and hope for a few pleasant surprises along the way. No reason to rip them apart. It's just not a good team and time to treat it as such. These guys are about to enter the most mentally tough 2.5 months of their basketball lives. It's going to be a challenge to stay mentally engaged throughout this season.
Agreed that there’s no need to pick this team apart. It’s the program brain trust that needs to be seriously examined.

the game is equal in all categories but 2pt % and Free throw attempts.

Xavier has 36 to Shu 16 and while we are sloppy, this is a total BS margin.

45 personal fouls in the game. 4.5 per 10 players on the floor.

On a serious note, we're getting our ass handed to us by a middle of the pack Xavier team. How bad will it be against Marquette, Uconn, Creighton & St Johns ? Looking like eight 30point beat downs coming. I don't even want to think about the DePaul game coming up. Lose that one & it's a Georgetown type season.
Someone has to be held responsible for this mess. the President & BOR should have the entire group, from AD down to the assistant coaches explain what they did wrong & what they will do to correct the problem. The first one to cry NIL should be handed walking papers, that is not an acceptable excuse.
I'm done with this rant, going to get a drink---Happy New Year

There are only 3-4 that should be back. Rest should be told to go. This is no longer scholarship commitment anyway. Two way street.'
3 or 4 "should be back"? Who besides Coleman? And I'd be shocked if he doesn't land at a large state school with deep pockets.

The question is will an 0-20 camapaign do more to ignite some wealthy alum than a 3-17 season?

What wealthy alum would that be? Frankly, this team looks god awful. It's not even competitive. We may not have had a ton of money, but certainly enough to at least appear competitive on the court. Even if there is someone out there willing to pay, would they even want to do without changes to the AD or coaching staff?

can't wait to hear this excuse
“It’s tough because we come back from Christmas break and guys got three days off and you think guys will be juiced and got their legs under them. We couldn’t practice this week – this guy was hurt, this guy couldn’t do this. So we had no good preparation because I can’t get…freaking five guys just to practice because everybody’s got something wrong with them."

“If you’ve got to coach effort and toughness, you ain’t going to win games, and that’s what I’m dealing with right now. It’s amazing guys are hurt, they can play in a game but they can’t practice…I’m still going to coach as hard as I can and keep trying to get this team better and better, but these guys got to want it, too.”

Sounds like a coach with players who have tuned him out.

Wow. Those comments say everything. This year is disaster. Coach wants to win badly and too emotional. He has put together bad roster and odd distribution of minutes. Players more concerned about next earning potential. Tuned him out or giving up on season. Lucky to win a few games.

He's lost the team. Nobody wants to get their bones grinded to dust when 1) they aren't winning 2) there isn't an established sense of mutual loyalty to one another.

Focus on Coleman. Give Felton a chance. Try and mold Gus into something. Maybe you have 3 guys to bring back next year when you try to fix this roster.

Another Sha excuse for his probs-- he is being paid a King's ransom --start looking in the mirror

His response is kind of what I guessed. When is he going to man up and realize that there is a major flaw in how they evaluated certain players. When the team is ranked in the mid 300s in several statistical categories, there is an obvious problem and just throwing money at is not the remedy. The government, both state & federal, is a prime example of that.
