George Washington University dropping 'Colonials' moniker

“Special Committee”? lol

I’m going to suggest they change it to the “Reservations”…

The colonial practices and policies of Great Britain and other countries were oppressive. These are part and parcel of why Americans revolted 250 years ago.

We had colonial style furniture in our house for 30 years. We recently moved and sold most of our oppressive furniture and went with TRANSitional in the new house. Much woker.

Pardon my forgetfulness for always failing to keep this straight. To confirm:

Snowflakes = people who elect to make changes regarding how they do business in ways they regard as appropriate for their stakeholders

Not snowflakes = People in no way connected to or impacted by said decisions who nonetheless get triggered and bitch endlessly about them on social media and basketball message boards

Do I have that right?

No.

I think Urban Dictionary offers an accurate definition:

A very sensitive person. Someone who is easily hurt or offended by the statements or actions of others.

This has nothing to do with politics. Snowflakes can be liberal or conservative. Whether it is a compliment or an insult is a matter of opinion and depends on the context.
Don't criticize Jane for what she did. She's a snowflake and you'll only upset her.

Not if you copy Siena and use a Saint Bernard. That excludes other dog breeds though, so they should probably change again. That should also go for UConn, Butler, Georgia, etc.
I realize that this comment was intended as sarcasm, but when UConn changed its mascot from the white fluffy dog to the current one, a student wrote an editorial about how the new mascot was too aggressive looking and inspired violence against women. She later said that all the comments under the article which, pretty much, called her an idiot were harassment and sued the University.

I remember seeing that and agree that her argument was ridiculous. That said, I think the previous logo was far superior and the rebrand was a terrible move. The current logo should've been left behind with the AAC.

Bringing back the "Connecticut" home whites was a step in the right direction. Now bring back the logo that goes with them.

I suppose it depends on what is getting them riled up.

Older alums who reject the woke changes might be considered "old farts" instead of snowflakes.

Go Pirates! Go Cocks!

UConn had had a white dog as a mascot for some thing like 80 years. Our former president, Susan Herbst, made the comment that there’s no such thing as a white husky, which should have been obvious to her was an incorrect statement given the fact that we had at the time a living mascot that was in fact a white husky. The use of a white husky was unique to Connecticut. The existing one is much more generic. It was a really dumb move from a branding standpoint.

(Don’t get me started on this, it’s a sore point.)

I hope the judge laughed at her and kicked her and her claim to the curb!

Wait, an actual bear?

In all seriousness though, Pirates should be safe. Disney's romanticized piracy enough that the actual horrors of piracy aren't the first things people associate with the name. As long as there's no pre-game wench auction, we should be good lol.
That was before Amber Heard trial. You have people calling to cancel Pirates of the Caribbean.

Scratch that…reverse it.

Jesse Powel, Kraken CEO deals with the snowflakes:

"most people don't care and just want to work, but they can't be productive while triggered people keep dragging them in to debates and therapy sessions. The answer for us was to just lay out the culture doc and say: agree and commit, disagree and commit, or take the cash."

Elon Musk agrees with him:

"Powell isn't alone in his stance. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has similarly said a "woke mind virus" is hurting business at streaming giant Netflix, which also shared a culture memo with employees in May."
