The bottom line is the guys who drove us to 7-22, 2-16 and lose their best players annually are going to be the ones to drive us out of it.

Facts. What’s a “GM” gonna do? You think Sha doesn’t know how to decipher who’s a good player in the portal?
Or you think this magical “GM” can tell you player 327 in the portal is a home run? It’s just another guy with a big salary taking a guess that any of us could do.
If we can afford them they will come. There’s no further information a “GM” can give or accomplish.
Did Sha negotiate his own contract or did he have an Agent? What "negotiation" skills does anyone believe Sha possesses ? Sha has, and will have, a rough time identifying Players .
I disagree on identifying players, I just think he can't afford the ones he wants. Maybe someone with better negotiating skills can get guys to sign for less money than they're getting offered elsewhere? But what else can our GM offer to offset the financial holes? Guaranteed playing time would be an outright lie.
I heard from a couple sources today about a new GM. Not a sexy name but seems like a hard worker and someone who will bring a fresh perspective if it comes to fruition.

Do you think professional sport coaches and managers don't know how to evaluate talent? Or Rick Pitino to name one prominent college coach.
Yet, every pro sports team employs a GM type to run operations. SJU has a GM. Maybe the idea is to let the coach focus on coaching while someone else handles the business side.
The business side has nothing to do with coaching. They both take place in opposite sides of the year.

If Pitino has a GM, then Sha should have a GM. Like…immediately. Pretty simple blueprint really. WTF are we doing?
This. But it's a sensible approach that won't happen at The Hall. Sha would also have to admit it's overwhelming to do this himself. Maybe this year will get that through his stubbornness.
I also think Sha is too emotional with the negotiating/valuation part. You have to leave that to the business people who are less invested in the individual and just get the deal done.
Or he opened up about his process because he knows he’s going to get whatever he wants regardless of who knows how he does it. He has a blank check and a track record to lock down whoever and whatever he wants.
i am not sure i buy him not involved during the season. reading that blurb makes it obvious the portal recruiting process is a 12 month affair. says it all starts in january - during the season. in pro sports that is tampering. but we all know zay has been tampered with and no one cares. was sotos agent meeting with cohen or a mets official last july?
pro athletes have freedom but its limited by contracts. is unlimited freedom OK? angel isaiah dre terry and jerry artie leahy caver lu lavelle cope jared ikey nzei desi bryant the 89 guys and all the rest pre this era - SETON HALL MEN. will we have that in the future? is that really part of the attraction to college sports. if we have another great team dominated by 1st yr transfers will they excite me less then iw's BET title?
