Over the weekend, junior Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) completed play at the Australian Master of the Amateurs tournament, the top-ranked amateur event in Australia.
Go finished 25th among an impressive field at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club, just 13 strokes behind the champion. The Seton Hall standout shot an 8-over-par, 74-78-73-71-296, saving his best round for last as he used the strength five birdies in round four to shoot up the leader board.
This performance comes on the heels of a strong fall season for Go on both the collegiate and amateur ranks. Go shot even-par or better in three of his four fall tournaments with Seton Hall, including a remarkable 6-under-par showing at the Hartford Hawk Invitational which matches the lowest three-round, par-72 tournament score in Seton Hall history. On the amateur circuit, Go was just as impressive. His amateur exploits were highlighted by an eighth place tie among 192 golfers at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in October.
To date, Go is ranked 225th by the world amateur golf rankings.
Go and the rest of the Seton Hall men’s golf team will begin their spring season on Monday, February 15 for the first two of three rounds of golf at the Carlton Oaks WIU Invitational in Santee, Calif.
