I was not a big fan of Derrick when he came in and his play did nothing to change my mind. Ever since the second half of Wichita State he looks to be playing like a man possessed!

How many charges has he taken in the last 4 games?

I am also impressed with the way he is finally blending into the offense and making quality contributions on that end.

Derrick is quickly becoming one of my favorite players on this team!

Gordon's defense is terrific. Isaiah is also a superior defender, and Khadeen defends well too. Derrick's offense is a throwback, not for Sportscenter, just good, strong basketball moves, keeps it simple, takes it strong to the hoop.

I'm right there with you kniespolice. And that was a dagger 3 he made last night.

His D and rebounding are huge. Net, net he is more important to SHU then would the departed player. DG can plausibly defend Dunn and some of the other big time BE guards. Last year our departed guards were incapable.

I cringe every time they throw it to Gordon for an open 3 but something about last night's felt good. You can tell they believe in him too, Isaiah was trying to coax the one that rimmed out against Wichita down from the bench.

Defensively, the guy is terrific. That play he made last night where he re-stole the ball off a turnover and stopped a fast break was one of the best things I've seen in years. And his defensive effort is rubbing off on the team.

I have been critical of his play, but the pat few games he has been outstanding. His D is lookdown, great at staying in front of the ball handlers and then drawing the charge.

He had 2 huge baskets last night, first was wen he flashed to the key and Z found him with a pass for a easy basket and then the biggest basket of the game was his 3.

He is the X-factor we needed, hope he keeps it up.

Seems to be a much better shooter from around the top of the key. He really struggles from the corners.

Hes really good at flopping for charge calls where he does it at the perfect moment and doesnt do some ridiculous head jerk. (lots of charges are flops in basketbal), in addition to being good at drawing charges naturally.

Hes actually very good at finishing around the rim, i have been impressed with that as well as hitting the 3. hes not a shooter but its gone in at more than a few opportune times this year.

I wouldn't say he flops much on those charges. He just beats his man to the spot. That's great defense.

Gordon's not a great shooter, obviously, I don't think even he would tell you he was. If he cuts out the corner 3, as Dan mentioned, and goes 33% from the top to keep the defense somewhat honest that's enough to me considering his defensive value.

The one thing I see going forward is how Willard will handle the end of games. I was one of the people who was very much against playing the only 3 guards together but I was wrong and they all play well off of each other. That said, Desi is arguably our most well rounded player and ties the guards and forwards together, you can't just plop him on the bench. And you know Willard will be itching to get Veer in for certain situations where we need a 3. It will be interesting to watch.

For sure, defense is his strong suit. When he hit that open 3 last night, I said the Gods are on our side for this game. Doesn't have the best outside shot, but hopefully this will encourage him to take the open 3 when he has it.

Love his defensive intensity, strong drives to the basket, and sound decision-making. A terrific defender who has taken many key charges in the past couple of games - as has Carrington and Whitehead. Gordon and Ish are setting the tone with their defensive intensity - it's rubbing off on the team.

KC and IW have always been good defenders, specially iw.

IW has been amazing defensively. Guy can block anyone or at least alter the shot (NBA will take note of this as a guard) did anyone notice the sequence on Ellenson?

I was also disappointed early with Gordon. But he is really taking charge (literally) the last three games. He seems much more comfortable with his role and is giving is a spark and versatility off the bench. He's played some key minutes with Zeke and Khadeen in foul trouble and we've had little or no drop off.

I hope Gordon gains Willard's trust enough to the point where he stops playing Carrington and Whitehead in the first half when they have 2 fouls. At some point thats going to bite us. We have to conserve fouls for our top 2 guards for the second half.

He has always been doing it and it always makes me nervous. I am pretty sure if needed, Desi is gonna play song 2
