Great Job by Coach Willard

Another quote, which was really funny...

Q: Sha, if you were to suit up up today, would you be the best player on the court?
Sha: I'd be the best player in the country baby!

I recall the "baby", not so sure if it was there. lol
Love Sha. Asked him recently if he thought he was so good how would he stop our athletic guards from blowing by him?

He said I'd elbow them in the @#$S and then take the ball away from them.

Can't argue with the results of that comment!

I keep hearing how he benched IW in ot. Jerry Carino is reporting its cause IW was gassed which I believe. No way Willard would bench him in a close game.

1st off that is a great response by Willard in protecting his star player. However it was very clear Willard had enough watching IW trying to do it all by himself. He had the legs to shoot a 3 from the Prudential logo with 3 minutes left. From that point there were multiple timeouts taken plus a break before OT. Amazingly he got gassed in that time and magically found his wind when Willard needed another ball handler up 5 with a minute and a half left knowing WSU would press? Again great answer by Willard, but if you believe that you might also be interested in purchasing bridges.

Kudos to the coaches especially Willard, but if the players didn't execute and we lost, the coaches' moves would have went unnoticed and would have been raked over the coals again.

While i too am anxious to see Isaiah think and act as a true point guard, i also realize that his style of play has been honed as a 2 guard. Playing against lesser competition in high school he could pull off some of the sensational and risky stuff and make good things happen. Unfortunately those things will not serve him as well now and he needs to unlearn those habits. In time he will, just as Willard's other disciples have. Gotta have patience as he grows into his role.
