He's clearly a man who knows his worth. Take the offer before it goes away.Who would think Gus would find another D1 team before we get our first commit.🤡
Gus commits to the first team to check his box in the Portal. Last year he committed to us without ever seeing NJ and just did the same to Vermont. Play hard to get GusBus!!
He realistically only had 24 states to choose from given what he enjoys doing in his spare time.Who would think Gus would find another D1 team before we get our first commit.🤡

The only reason for the type of freshman you describe to go to a high major is if you are comfortable possibly not playing much as a freshman and developing the old fashion way. Benefiting from practice against top players, coaching and the normal old school development process. I'm sure some kids who don't play much still get compensated well, especially if the staffs want to keep them. But you raise a great point. Just looking at local mid/low majors, I would absolutely look to get these kids out of HS -- which weren't realistic targets in the past -- and this would be my sell. Come here, play right away, prove your value and have the option to go to a high major as a sophomore, junior or senior. I brought this up in another thread, but look at what Pitino had at Iona a few years ago -- Walter Clayton (All American at Florida now, one of the best guards in the country), Daniss Jenkins (all BE second team two years ago for SJU, now in the NBA), Nelly Joseph (New Mexico's starting center the past two years, so the starting big on NCAA worthy teams), and the Ayo kid at St. John's who was a solid role guy for them this year. All those kids coming out of HS fit your scenario.I don't see why kids like Gus and other HS players not in the Top 50 would go to High Majors out of HS anymore. Unless you are elite, you won't play much as a freshman. Go to a mid-major where you can start, have a good year or 2 then get a bag to transfer up.
Good luck Gus!!!
Because basketball players would want to play on high major basketball teams. So would youI don't see why kids like Gus and other HS players not in the Top 50 would go to High Majors out of HS anymore. Unless you are elite, you won't play much as a freshman. Why hasn’t Becker been offered a job amazes me. You have any insights on this?Great coach at Vermont.
Gus was a 4 star recruit coming out of HS. He played at 2 of the best HS programs in the country, IMG & La Lumiere.I don't see why kids like Gus and other HS players not in the Top 50 would go to High Majors out of HS anymore.
