Haha Trump

Agree, I think Trump barely hangs on in GA and PA. Wins NC with some room to spare but Biden takes NV and AZ. I think Trump could stage a comeback in NV, but we really don't know much about the vote there. They were silent all day yesterday.

No idea what to make of Nevada. I feel a lot more confident about Biden taking PA at this point with how many mail in ballots are left to be counted.

What really amazes me, all these states knew they would be getting a huge number of mail in ballots, and they were unable/unwilling to figure out how to make sure they were counted quickly. This just allows people to come up with conspiracy theories before results are even announced.

They knew it would be difficult and that is why they asked to start scanning before election day like they did in Ohio. Republicans blocked them from doing that in PA. Not sure why they wanted this chaos, but they did.

Also, with Covid, I don’t get where couldn’t use more modern technology so poll watchers can watch socially distanced.

Yes, agree it didnt make a lot of sense. I could see not counting actual votes, but they should have done things like open envelopes, verify signatures, prepare ballots for counting, etc.

I knew deal with PA, but what about other states, was it similar issue?

Q wackos are going to have a field day if trump loses .

In some states, but not all. Like AZ for example should be done.

State laws

Thanks for the info, very interesting.
Well then what the hell is problem in AZ? If could start counting 14 days early, what is the problem. Still only counted 86% of vote.

Other than AK, AZ & NV both seem to have counted least percentage of total votes as of last I looked this morning.

Yup, disgraceful. Unless it was by design, then criminal.

How does a state like Florida, with nearly 11 million votes cast (many via mail-in and/or early) have solid totals on election night, yet states like Arizona/Nevada and even Pennsylvania (all with far fewer than 10-11 million votes) can't get this done quickly? It makes no sense.

Trump is acting disgracefully. I am trying to hold out hope that he will eventually accept his loss, and we will have a peaceful transfer of power.

He will, he has no other choice. But he hasn't lost yet until all the votes are counted. It does certainly appear that he will lose.

Shouldn't it be respected how each state determines election calculations vs a central global federal way one way fits all?

Markets up again today. Biden win/Republican Senate. Likely Biden will govern more to the middle and block out progressives. He can create a nice legacy of calm and bipartisanship that would serve the party well long term (especially to retain Presidency in 2024, as I doubt he will run a second term).

Let's hope so, although I am terrified of what he is going to do on the virus. I fear a shutdown and mandatory vaccination.

Even if there is a macro call for mandatory vaccine many pcp will get compromised patients a stay of injection

He won’t do either. The reality is that his “plan” will be exactly what Trump did. Let the states manage, continue with Operation Warp Speed, etc. There won’t be any Federal mandates.

Of course the MSM will call him a genius...lol

You think it will be the same as "If we weren't testing, we wouldn't have so many cases"?

Long way to go between now and January related what happens with the Virus.
We are likely heading into what will be the most difficult period in managing the spread. It is hard to determine what Biden will, or even should do months from now.

What I do expect he would do differently is a massive investment in more testing and guidelines for how states should respond to their circumstances at the time. I would be shocked if there was any type of mandatory federal action.

I could see him trying to shutdown certain things, but I do not see how it would be legal and how it would be enforced by states that resist.

Don't see mandatory vaccine, and even if he did, that would be a long way away before could even be closely possible, then if legal and again how it would be known or could really be enforced by anyone.

Biden doesn't take office until mid-January and the vaccine will be general available by February the latest. FDA and BARDA are funding therapies through February at this point which tells you they are 100% certain that the vacine will be out there.

Even with the uptick in cases, the stress to the healthcare system has been minimal. Patients are younger, healthier and being treated with therapies as soon as they get admitted. LOS is a few days rather than one to three months in the spring. Once the vaccine is out there, there is very little for him to do.

I don't understand people worrying about a vaccine mandate. You want to get back to normal? You get the vaccine. The more people that resist getting the vaccine, the longer it will take to resume life as we knew it. It's amazing to me that the mask-shaming crowd seems to be a good portion (online, anyway) of people claiming they're not taking the vaccine.

Do you trust this vaccine? I certainly do not. It has been rushed and funded by people with questionable motives. Vaccines can do great harm to people if there is a flaw and/or they are administered poorly.

Regarding masks, I don't think they do much. The numbers have rising in NJ recently and EVERYONE is wearing masks. So why have numbers been increasing throughout all this mask wearing? It's not the point it was in March/April, but it has been a noticeable increase from the summer.

That's good but we are quickly approaching an all time high in current hospitalizations and 1k are dying per day just as flu season is starting. Hard to say really what things will look like at the end of January. I hope it's resolved with a vaccine.

Masks work. People are changing behavior now like eating indoors, and that is causing the increase.

But the Question is what would Biden do? Even if he was in power now he wouldn’t do anything differently than what Trump has done outside of public messaging.

There is no evidence indoor dining is contributing to spread. None.

It is the changing of behaviors though. I wouldn't say there is evidence that indoor dining is or isn't playing a part at this point... but it's not like masks are working in July and stop working in September. The reason it increased in NJ is because the virus had an opportunity to spread.
People are becoming more comfortable seeing people. People are eating inside restaurants, kids are back in school. All of that will increase the spread to a degree. It's manageable. We don't need to shut anything down... but we don't need to start saying masks are ineffective.

They have actually reported that it's not due to indoor dining, but to small family gatherings and parties. Or else Murphy would have shut the restaurants down again.

And yes, 09, I do trust the vaccine. There is no magic to developing a vaccine, it's a pretty standard recipe, just plug in the antigen you need immunity to, and go. There won't be any more risk of adverse reaction to this vaccine than any other. IMHO, anyone who is able to get it, and doesn't, is a fool.

So why don't we have a vaccine for most (if not all) viruses if it's so easy and standard? No vaccine for the common cold. No vaccine for HIV. No vaccine for Ebola. No vaccine for SARS/MERS.

Yeah, I know what they said. I just don't find it to be a realistic statement and we don't really have a way to prove it one way or another unless we are testing everyone constantly. Several restaurants near me have closed for a couple weeks because of Covid. Also have seen some people eating in indoor tends with closed sides which is likely way worse than being in an actual restaurant.

Point was that behaviors are changing as people get more comfortable. Changes in transmission are not because masks are suddenly less effective than they were a few months ago.

It’s no secret why cases have risen. School back in session, organized sports, cooler weather (and now daylight savings time) forcing people indoors, air travel rising, etc.

Masks do help, but they have been politicized as the end all and they are not. Much more important than masks is starting with a healthy lifestyle. Eat right, get rest, take preventative supplements, reduce comorbitity risk factors. It’s a respiratory disease. If you smoke (anything), you should stop immediately...that will save your life more than a mask.

One final point on masks. How often do people wash them. Every time I’m in a group and the subject turns to masks, I’ll ask how often. Vast majority don’t or only do it when mask looks dirty. Think about that....Fauci ever talk about that? Too funny

Right, that is what I was saying. Behaviors are changing.

Masks are not the end all be all. They mitigate the risk of spread. They do not remove the risk of spread.

Washing recommendations from CDC. Though, the virus doesn't seem to live on fabric long so washing is probably for other hygienic purposes.

The purpose of the mask is to reduce the amount of the virus you are shedding into the areas around you and to reduce the velocity so it doesn't spread as far.

Market not going to tank because republicans retained the senate.McConnell in a high leverage position for big money items like taxes, stimulus, budget etc.
