Newark, N.J. - Senior Tyrese Samuel (Montreal, Quebec) posted his second consecutive double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and junior Femi Odukale (Brooklyn, N.Y.) helped pace the defensive effort with 10 rebounds and four steals to go along with eight points as the Seton Hall men's basketball team returned to the win column with a 76-68 victory over Georgetown Tuesday night at Prudential Center.

Senior Al-Amir Dawes (Newark, N.J.) had a game-high 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 shooting from the free throw line. Junior Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 14 points and graduate student KC Ndefo (Elmont, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 points.

Seton Hall (16-11, 9-7 BIG EAST) moved into sole possession of fifth place in the BIG EAST with the victory and will meet with No. 20 UConn, who sits in sixth place with a league record of 8-7, at noon Saturday inside Gampel Pavilion on FOX.

How It Happened

The Pirates came out with urgency and pace as they scored on its first three possessions. With the score tied at 10-10 at the 14:18 mark, Dawes hit back-to-back three-point baskets that matched Seton Hall's largest lead of the game to that point, 16-10. Georgetown trimmed its deficit to one on a jumper that made it 17-16 but the Pirates used an 8-0 spurt to go ahead by nine, 25-16, with 3:41 to go before halftime. Samuel was fouled with 39 seconds to go in the first half and made both free throws, giving Seton Hall a seven point lead, 27-20, going into the locker room.

Richmond started the second half off with a three-point basket, giving Seton Hall its first double-digit lead of the game at 30-20, and its defense started to ramp up and get stops. The Pirates' defense helped balloon their lead to 15, 45-30, by holding the Hoyas to just one made field goal over nine-plus minutes of game action. Consecutive layups by Ndefo with under three minutes to go kept the Pirates' lead at eight and he would later make two key free throws that gave The Hall a 10-point lead, 69-59, with 1:20 to play. Despite the Hoyas getting to as close as four on two occasions with under a minute to go, the Pirates made seven of eight free throws down the stretch that sealed its ninth BIG EAST victory.
