Strengths:
His natural talent level is staggering. His ability to handle and pass the basketball at his size is absolutely off the charts and gives him incredible potential as a playmaking forward and mismatch problem. He can take the ball off the glass and lead the break without problem, make quick instinctive improvisations with the ball in his hands and create offense for both himself and his teammates. His overall feel for the game and basketball I.Q. is equally high and his ability to see the game more than one pass ahead at his size is truly unique. His shooting stroke, while not initially as natural as his ball-handling and passing, has improved rapidly over the years and is now just as impressive as the rest of his skill set. Physically, he has the frame to play through contact and good athleticism for his size, both of which make him capable of being a high level finisher and rebounder as well.
Weaknesses:
The biggest knocks on Reid over the years have been his motor and maturity. He hasn't always played the game as hard as he needs to or shown great energy. He's recently started to make consistent strides in those areas and he needs to continue to do so. His body language, decision making, and overall efficiency are all byproducts of his mental approach to the game and while he's making progress, he isn't always as consistently dominant as his natural tools should dictate.
Bottom Line:
On talent alone, there simply aren't many better prospects in the country. His combination of size, strength, athleticism, skill, and intellect is off the charts. Now it is just a matter of harnessing those weapons on an every-day basis to become the consistently dominant player he is capable of becoming.
