I'd disagree there. I'd think most governors would have the relevant experience for that role.
Kind of like when Trump picked Rick Perry.

Hegseth getting through to me is more of an indicator of what has happened to both parties and the “Trump effect”. What happened to the Never Trumpers and RINO’s that would have not supported the nomination of someone like Hegseth? On the other side, the Democratic Party has lost their grip on the blue collar working class Americans and struggling with a message or leader. Their line of questioning during the hearings were just dumb.

Wouldn’t be surprised now if RFK, Gabbard and Patel all make it through.
