FARMINGTON, PA. – Freshman Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) tied for sixth overall and helped lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational at Mystic Rock Golf Course on Tuesday.

Hennessee picked up his second round Tuesday morning after darkness halted all play before round two could be completed. The Pirates' newcomer had four birdies and 11 par in route to a 1-under-par, 71. In the afternoon, he was nearly just as good shooting an even-par, 72. For the tournament, Hennessee tied for sixth among 76 individual golfers with a 1-over-par, 74-71-72-217. West Virginia's Kaleb Wilson won the individual title at a remarkable 7-under-par.

As a team, The Hall shaved off 15 strokes from its first-round score to finish with a 1-under-par, 287, in round two. In round three, the Pirates shot a 6-over-par, 294. For the two-day event, Seton Hall placed third with a 19-over-par, 302-287-294-883. West Virginia won the team title at 2-over-par, while George Mason placed second at 14-over-par.

As the tournament progressed, Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) got better. After a disappointing 80 in round one, the sophomore shaved off seven strokes for a 1-over-par, 73, in round two. In round three, Williams shot up the leader board, using three birdies and 13 pars to fuel a 1-under-par, 71. For the tournament, he tied for 20th place with an 8-over-par, 80-73-71-224.

Finishing only one stroke behind Williams was classmate Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.). Shah had a fantastic second round, using two birdies and 15 pars to power an even-par, 72. Despite a 7-over-par, 79, in round three, the sophomore tied for 25th for the tournament with a 9-over-par, 74-72-79-225.

THE COURSE:
Mystic Rock, the dream of Nemacolin's founder, Joseph A. Hardy III, brought to life by prominent designer Pete Dye, is one of the country's finest golf courses. Perched atop the Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountains, the 7,526-yard Mystic Rock spans acres of the scenic Laurel Highlands, offering players championship-level golf in a spectacular setting.

Nemacolin and Golf Architect Tim Liddy partnered with Pete Dye — before Dye's passing — with designs for an impressive and extensive bunker renovation to Mystic Rock, which was completed in 2021. The transformation to upgrade the bunkers, playing surfaces, and tee boxes solidifies Mystic Rock as one of the premier mountain courses in the country.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host West Virginia, the field included 12 other schools: Bucknell, Campbell, Central Michigan, Delaware, George Mason, George Washington, Mount St. Mary's, Penn State, Richmond, Robert Morris, Towson and William & Mary.

UP NEXT:
The Hall will return to tournament action for three rounds of golf at the FAU Golf Invitational, Oct. 28-29, at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
